My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Susan, I totally understand about the canoe trip.  Yikes!  I think that seriously could have trumped our experience.   lol

Poor Bryan!  I bet he was disappointed.  lol

Gunnar told me, before he left yesterday, that he had a gift card to Red Lobster on his desk and if I wanted to use it, to take my daughter Michelle to dinner for her birthday on Sunday, I could.  I said to him, "What? I can't use the BWW coupons"?   He said no, because they have one of those right near where he lives, but they closed the Red Lobster.  LOL

Elizabeth - We lived in Jacksonville for 8 years and we have canoed in FL, lol. It was horrible. D was in 6th grade and was in one canoe with a friend who was 2 years older. They tipped over and I kept screaming for them to get back in the boat! I was a nervous wreck the whole time. My 4th grader was in the boat with me and everytime it slightly moved she would scream at the top of her lungs. Betsy, it wasn't as dramatic as your story because there was no lighting, wind, hail, sharp oysters or dumb guides involved. But it was Kate in the boat with me...need I say more?

Lori - I wish I could be alone sometimes, lol. Bryan and I are going to dinner and shopping to use his Dick's sporting goods gift certificates and my Kohls cash. (Dinner is at Applebee's - also giftcards, free night out :) But I will check when I get home to see if you guys are on.

Betsy and Lori - I sent D with those Buffalo Wild Wing gift certificates that we got in Great Lakes. You should have seen the look Bryan gave me when I told D he could have them, lol.

Shannon, the thought of a juicy hamburger at Chili's now appeals to me too.  lol

Elizabeth, Owie and ouch on T's feet.  I hope he didn't get an infection from that.

Lori, I will most likely be here tonight.  ((hugs)) on your first night by yourself.

No kidding Betsy - I'm glad your scarey story had a happy ending!  Yikes!  Its hilarious that everyone has whitey tidy stories!  I'm interested in chatting tonight - let me know if anyone else has a quiet house tonight - my first night alone since 12/16!!!

Betsy - wow, what a story...I would have been flipping out if I watched all of that going on knowing I couldn't get out there to get my husband and kids, and ouch to the oyster beds that is like cutting yourself with bacteria infested razor blades, my "T" cut his feet on barnicles after free diving when he was in high school, that was awful...

Hi ladies, I'm really enjoying all the conversation about underwear.  While in Great Lakes we passed a WalMart, and I was sure my son was going to have the shuttle driver stop there to buy boxers.  Guess the thought of a juicy hamburger at Chili's trumped that.  Since arriving in P'cola, he hasn't brought up the subject again; I figure since he found the Sprint store the day after he arrived (and hit me up for a new cell phone), he can also find somewhere to buy boxers!  Funny to hear all the stories.  Navy tidy-whities were a topic of discussion during our day with him!  Thanks for sharing...
