H finally got to Houston after her connecting flight left. She leaves in about 25 min for Pensacola. I tried to sleep, but was waiting for contact from her. I have to work until midnight tonight so I am going to be very tired by then. H is at the USO relaxing until her flight.

H disagreed with me about the grad date not being the same as what her orders say. She will have to hear it from some one else.

T left at 11:30 this morning for the drive down to VA Beach with his dad. According to 511Virginia.org, the drive should take them about 3 1/2 hours, barring accident or incident, and not including stopping for lunch. He is probably close to base, if not already there. He told me if he had the chance, he'd call me tonight from his barracks. It was a good christmas, if a bit short. He didn't get to town until late on the 23rd, but we made the most of the time we were given and it's not like I won't see him again -- it IS only a couple of hours drive, and I know that at the very least, I'll see him on his birthday at the end of February, as it's a weekend, and he should have off-base liberty privileges by then!

He's so grown up and I'm just so proud of him. I told him he will go on to do great things. I think he believed me. :)

Lori, ((hugs)) that's great that he has other sailors to pass the time with him.  Wow, he's so close now.  I hope you get a nap today, that's a pretty early morning.

Donna, ((hugs)) to you.  I'm so glad that he made it to Illinois so far.  I will say prayers that his flight to Pensacola takes off ok.

Jessi, I also stole your dad's advice and sent A a message quoting him.  Thanks for that.  ((hugs)) to you today.

well we made it !! Just got back home from taking S to airport. From home, flight was on time, clear up til 1/2 before boarding time. Then the sweet lady came over to the board and started pushing buttons !! Delayed 1/2 hr for late arrival of previous flight! So we waited. Finally took off 1hr after scheduled time. Flew United. They allow military 3 checked bags up to 70lb each !! Then 2 carry on!! His seabag weighed 47lbs. I have no idea how they would carry 3 bags weighing 70lbs !! United also offered gf & I gate passes. We were able to have breakfast at the Greene Turtle with him. They both ordered the $19.00 crabcake & egg platters, while Mom with the cash, ordered a egg & bacon bagel ! Something wrong here !. He has already landed in Illinois, waiting for next flight out for Pensacola. Should arrive around 5:15 Eastern time. Has been a mixed day for me. Did great til time to board. Then I was crying while hugging and kissing him. Stood at window and watched the luggage get loaded, cried. Waited til they taxied down runway and cried. Then went from window to window watching as they were taking off and of course cried. GF asked me if I would be ok to drive home and I said yes and we left. Doing better now, just wishing I knew when I would see him again.

A is in Rhode Island; only a few minutes late - very thankful.  He is awaiting another flight that has Navy personnel on board and is then taking a shuttle to base.  There were 7 other Sailors with him when we talked.  All his luggage arrived so that's good.  Jessi - love your dad's advise; I will share with A in a letter.  Wendi and Susan - thinking of you and sending a virtual hug!  Wendi - sleep is good; I had 2.5 hours sleep last night as we left for the airport at 3:15 A - I'm in my jammies and staying in them for the rest of the day!  I need to do some cleaning of the Christmas aftermath anyway.......will be on line later tonight if anyone wants to chat.

Donna, thanks for the tip about the grad date.  I was figuring that we would all have to play it by ear. I had told my sailor, before he left, to plan on being there for a few months longer that he thinks he will.

my daughter arrived in Pensacola yesterday. Apparently the graduation date of apr 15 is just a set of orders for a seat in class. it is taking some sailors a couple months to class up. one female has been there since sept and has not started class yet for air traffic controller. So basically for AT it will be four months after they start class lol. She did say it is a lot different from basic.

Wendi, ((hugs)).  I agree that it seemed harder this time.  I hope her flights work out ok.

Just returned from taking H to the airport. It feels harder this time. Lots of tears and she actually cried too. I think this time she knows how lonely she is going to be where she didn't quite get that before boot camp. She called to say that they had to deplane because of a coffee pot spill in the galley below. They ended up leaving almost 90 min late. Definitely will miss her connection. When I last spoke with her she was in line at the gate to get help with that. She is on Continental. They did not charge for bags and let the 3 of us go to the gate with her. They also allowed military in uniform to board early, but she is changing when she gets to Pensacola USO. She should land in Houston in about 3 hours. I am going to nap until then. I will check back in later
