Since we are now able to send packages, wouldn't it be great if we shared our creative ideas of what we intend to send to our sailors?

My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Wendi, Awww, I bet your dad was proud. :)
Susan, we love you too. :)
Penny, so sorry about the problems at the airport. ((hugs)) I will be on here tonight, if you want to chat.
Penny, I'm surprised that they wouldn't allow the laptop. I guess it depends on what A school they go, on what they tell them.
My airport experience was absolutely wonderful (well, with the big exception of having to say goodbye :( ). My husband and Adam were both flying out today, but my husband's flight to Baltimore was cancelled due to weather issues in Baltimore. Since it was the holiday travel season, he can't get out of Albuquerque on Southwest now, until Wed. morning. So, he is now able to stay here til then.
A flew US Airways and they were awesome (at least in Albuquerque). The agent checked him in himself, so that they wouldn't charge for his bags. I asked for a gate pass and he very willingly gave me one. Gunnar also got a gate pass from US Airways, once he found out that his flight was cancelled. We were able to sit there with A until he boarded his plane. Please pray that he gets through NC alright, because I think they are still getting the storm there.
Well I am back from the airport. CJ fussed with me because I was asking do you have this and this and this... Oh well I didn't want him to forget anything.
News on the airport.... They did not like his lock on the bag. So they made him put zip ties on it until it went through the scanners then they put the lock back on it. They also did not like his boots and tennis shoes hanging from it but there was no room. We had to tie the shoes and boots on real well. They said he may actually lose his shoes during the flight. UGH!!!
Delta did not charge him for his bag. - They said if you do e ticket and check in - then mark the ticket special and the will ask what is special about it and you tell them he is active duty with orders and they wave the cost.
I tried to hold it together but cried. while he was in line going through security a lady asked me if he was miltary and I said yes. She asked when would be seeing him again and I told her 5 months (CJ's School goes till middle of May) By then I was crying. She looked at me and was crying too and said thank you for raising a great young man.
He should be in Minneapolis right now with a lay over till 3:30 pm then on to Saint Louis then to Chicago tonight at 7:00 pm .
Now it is time for a nap... I am tired.
Thanks friends for being here. I miss him but I know he wants to do this and is excited about catching up with his new friends. It is so quiet here already. Hugs and prayers for safe travels especially for you all on the East Coast.
H leaves early tomorrow morning. I had a few minutes of crying on our drive back into town yesterday. We get to spend most of today with her then the bf gets her the rest of the day. It has been a busy time and I hope H will be able to get some rest once sch gets settled into school. Her cold is getting better.
When H gave my dad one of her Navy pictures he was so proud of her. It was so great to see.
Safe travels to those going to A school today. It will be tough for us moms but we got through bootcamp, so we can definitely make it through this. It will be easier this time. Not saying goodbye but the rest.
