My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Hi guys! I am so glad all your sailors are getting back to normal, my "E" wasn't home long enough for me to be so lucky to observe :( !

As for cost of Sea Bag...He did not have to pay any extra for his Sea Bag being over weight...he did have to pay $25  for it though, and $25 per bag after that as well...he carried his folded uniform bag on the plain and another carry on duffel bag, and that was OK. They are allowed two carry on's. He did not take anything extra with him, he wanted to 'scope out the joint' first before having me send anything. Now I am making a list...everyday he adds something new, Alarm clock, radio etc. He was picked up at the Airport by someone instead of having to take a cab ....((HUGS)) to all of you in advance, I know what is coming. I still have bursts of crying outbursts, But, do get to 'text' him often :)...he text's me every night to say 'good night' and "I love you!" I am very lucky...but miss him, and he is still sick, and went into Medical today, got there and they closed EARLY for the Holidays...........UGGHHH

@Betsy...how come It doesn't show me online anymore when I am on this site ? :(

A said they HAVE TO arrive in A school in their dress blues.  But, I guess if he wants to change beforehand, he could?

Comment by NC_Susan on December 22, 2010 at 3:35pm
Hmmm Jessi. D told me that they have to wear their dress blues to A school. Since he is flying he will wear them on the plane as well. Maybe they can travel in the peanut butters then change into the dress blues? Does anyone else know about this? Sorry Jessi,  I probably wasn't much help!

It took a couple of days but J went right back to normal (food, sleep, tidiness, etc). He even had a couple of good old teenage ungrateful moments. I told him that he maybe needed 'boot camp take two'. But all-in-all it's been great. His moods have a wide range - super happy to be home but missing his routine, proud to be in the Navy but dreading A school. I think this visit home has been difficult because he still has one foot in bootcamp and one foot in his old life.   - - - - -

Can someone tell me or point me to directions on attire/uniform? J said that he should travel in his peanut butters, but wear his dress blues to A school. Does that make sense?

Yep even though it's cold there now they should start really warming up around Feb and March. D is going to have to buy everything new. Nothing fits him anymore. He went down by 2 sizes. D said him and his buddy from BC plan on spending a lot of time playing xbox and at the beach, lol.

Yes, wouldn't that be nice to be stuck in FL for 10 months.  lol

A was looking at his civvies to decide what to take and I told him to take a bathing suit and some shorts.  He said "Mom, it will be winter time".  I told him that he might be there longer and it's Florida!  lol

Comment by NC_Susan on December 22, 2010 at 1:39pm
Well it's supposed to be for 4 months but they just changed the school to 6 months and that doesn't include his down time waiting for his clearance. So my guess would be about 10-11 months. I wouldn't mind being on the Gulf for that long, lol.

Susan, We are doing the same with A's finances.  He is even putting my name on all his accounts, so that in the event that he needs someone else on the account, it will be already be set up.

That's good that D can switch his residency.  How long is his A school?  My A's is only "supposed" to be 3 months, so I don't think he can do that.
