My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Jacque - Hang in there. My D isn't down, but he is frowning a lot and seems a little out of sorts at times. I think it's just an adjustment to go from such intense training to being home.

Penny - I have heard a lot of funny stories about Div 022! I hope you get CJ's glasses fixed!

Lori - D has also had a cold and cough. He said gas chambers caused everything to drain out and that he felt so much better after but it caught up to him again.

Thanks Nancy for adding the chat box - kudos to you and thanks to your son for his help; love the Navy emblem.  Have fun at PIR!!!!  Thinking of you :-)

Penny - hope you can get some eyes for you Sailor!  Its tough without your sight!

Jacque - sorry to hear about your Sailor being down.  Lots of changes; tired, anticipation, holidays.  Hang in there - I hope he feels better soon.  My sailor is pretty busy with his GF - he does have a bad cold which isn't pleasant but I haven't noticed him being sad.

Kim - Thanks for the offer!  that is so gracious of you!  My sailor will be in Conneticut.  Enjoy PIR this week!

Salma - I have some good pictures!

Hey, I got the chat up (with a TON of help from my oldest son), and he found and pasted in the Navy emblem for us.

My son's glass broke in basic and so he is blind this week. I am taking him in for an eye appointment and see if we can get him another pair this week.

Jacque - My son said he missed his friends from BC and his routine. THis is normal. Give him his space and try to encourage him to talk and give him some quiet time.

Hi everyone. I have a question, or shall I say a concern. My son seems distracted and depressed since he's gotten home. He's withdrawn today. Yesterday he was pretty much ok, tired but not today. Is this normal? How can I help him?

Comment by Kim of Virginia on December 19, 2010 at 8:16am

Betsy, this is totally amazing! Thanks everyone for combining the groups and coming up with a lasting group. I know some family members on our other groups will feel a lose and now we know that we are still together. Remember, I live in Virginia, so for those of you who will have sailors in the Tidewater area, please know that I am here for them, especially during holidays if they aren't allowed to come home. My area serves all Navy bases in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Newport News, Chesapeake and Portsmouth. If there is a holiday and your Sailor needs a home or family, please facebook me under Kim Kobus so that we can prepare our meals accordingly. Usually, we feed 25-30 people and although we travel during Spring Breaks and summer, we are always home for Christmas and Thanksgiving and have always made room for Sailors in Virginia for years.

Penny, I am flying to GL tomorrow (well, almost today) and I will have my older son try to help me once we are in the hotel room. I have tried at least 10 times, and it just won't paste. I miss it too. :-(
