My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

mpacted by the earthquake and tsunami.

Also, pray for the safety of all of the people in Hawaii and our west coast states.

My daughter is in Hawaii with her bf right now.  I have talked to her and she said, so far, they were fine.

nanny2, Oh my, that is weird about the pilot.  You should post the picture, we would love to see it.

Sharon, Woohoo! on the upcoming graduation.

Penny, I'm so glad that Cj is doing well.  :)  Had a good cry while reading the poem.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, our house appraised lower than the buyer's offer, so we are trying to work that out now.  It's always something. So, if I'm MIA for a couple of weeks, it's because I have been dealing with the move.

My A is doing well in A school and says that he will have a lot of studying in this portion of his training.  He said there is a lot of math in this stage of his training.  Yikes!  He asked me what I wanted for my birthday and of course, I said that all I want is for him to make me a proud mom.  :)  Then he said, "Mom, you were the one who kept me in line and kicked my butt when I needed it, my whole life, and now I realize how much you did for me.  You were always there for me and I want to do something special for you"   OMG, did I cry when he said that.  *tear.  Every once in a while, that boy surprises me by saying things like that.  I told him that all I really wanted was a Navy Mom hoodie.  :)  He said that was a start.  lol

Congratulations to all those sailors graduating from their A schools now.  Woohoo!  We got through this ladies and just think of all of the new adventures that our sailors are going to experience now.

My son graduates from A School on April 1.  He still doesn't know what he will be doing for C school.  He gave them his dream sheet and circled "job" rather than "location".  Since his dream location is Japan, I sure hope he gets job, especially with today's events.

His C school will last anywhere from 5 to 12 weeks, depending on what rating he gets.  It'll be nice to have him still within driving distance for a while longer.

Well D left SD at 11  this morn, right know he is in Chicago his flight was delayed, the pilot is mia. That's kinda scary. He said being in Chicago was making him have flashbacks of bc. LOL  It's only 30 here in KY he is going to freeze.  He did send me a pic yesterday after graduation, showing me his stripes & patch. He took a pic of himself in front of his bathroom mirror.  I can see it now, getting ready change out of his uniform & thinking o crap mom wanted a pic, at least I got one pic. LOL   He continues to amaze me, that's all I can say.

Thanks for the poem  I have 2 kids that I shared that with. It came at a perfect time. Thanks so much for sharing, I really needed it. Congrats to CJ.

I haven't been here for awhile. Awesome news all the way around. We will be praying here for the two sailors families. Gosh that is really tragic and does make one realize it could be our children.

@Cindy!!! Awesome girl on the news about E. I know how much you will enjoying hugging the stuffings out of him.

@ Betsy good luck on the house hunting - I am praying God gives you a dream home.

For those of you traveling for your graduations Awesome - have a blast!!!!

Update on CJ - He is doing well. A little trouble with his girl - they have it worked out. He is talking about marriage. Then he texted me a wonderful little story which he said made him cry and it made me ball.  He finally passed his last test. He had to take it three times. Anyway he is done with with this part and now to his "strand" as he calls it. He said he will done either the 3 or 4 week in April and will get his orders. He is glad that part is done. He said this last month is all hands on. Anway here is the poem he found - Enjoy!!!

Why Mothers Cry

"Why are you crying?" he asked his mom.
"Because I'm a mother," she told him.
"I don't understand," he said.
His mom just hugged him and said, "You never will!"
Later the little boy asked his father why Mother
seemed to cry for no reason.
"All mothers cry for no reason," was all his dad could say.
The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering
why mothers cry. So he finally put in a call to God, and
when God got on the phone the man said,
"God, why do mothers cry so easily?"
God said, "You see son, when I made mothers they had
to be special. I made their shoulders strong enough to
carry the weight of the world, yet gently enough to give
comfort. I gave them an inner strength to endure childbirth
and the rejection that many times come from their children."
"I gave them a hardiness that allows them to keep going
when everyone else gives up, and to take care of their
families through sickness and fatigue without complaining."
"I gave them the sensitivity to love their children under all
circumstances, even when their child has hurt them very
badly. This same sensitivity helps them to make a child's boo-boo
feel better and helps them share a teenager's anxieties and fears."
"I gave them a tear to shed. It's theirs exclusively to use whenever
it's needed. It's their only weakness. It's a tear for mankind."

Penny, try to get a good night's sleep…hopefully you're already there as I'm on CA time. LOL I will say a prayer for you and Rose and safe journeys. Hopefully the weather will be ok for you. I totally identify with you about driving at night. Unfortunately, I think it's an age thing. :-(

Betsy-I keep reading updates. Thinking good thoughts for you and your house hunt!! Can be fun but frustrating at the same time...

Cindy-SUCH good news!! It is paying off now to have a little less time with him over the holidays. I know that IB is going to have to wait to "Class up" but it will be in CT not CA… Enjoy your time!!

Lori-Ash's purse hunting made me smile.. Nice to know there are some cool things at the NEX!!

To everyone heading off to graduation, my good wishes go with you. I was going to tell you all to have a good time, and then thought OMG what am I thinking?!?!…Of course you are going to have a fabulous time!!! I am thinking good thoughts for all of you. Also, I gave IB a heads-up and told him that his picture WILL be taken by strange women. LOL

Penny,  How sad. My son either hasn't heard or chose not tell me about that. Prayers to the family. Prayers too you too, wow what a day you have tmrw. Have a safe & wonderful trip. Congrats to N. My son said his graduation was going to a small room, asked how he liked school, shaking hands & being congratulated. Kinda  a bummer after all the hard work, I think.  Safe travels to everyone.

Hi everyone...taking a break from getting everything packed for tomorrow's trip to Groton. It will be a crazy day...school and then working with my Juniors on their talent show...race home to throw things in the car and then head half an hour south to watch Alex as a defense lawyer in his school's Mock Trial...then finally on the road! Unfortunately we won't get started until about 7:30...please pray for me...I am a terrible night driver! =0

On another note...please pray for the family of Mychael Flint. He was a 21 year old sailor station at Camp Pendleton, San Diego. He and another sailor (I do not know the other sailor's name) were killed in a training exercise Monday. Apparently their truck flipped over. He is from a town near ours and I have friends who were close to him. He played soccer against my N in high school. It is so awful. My heart is breaking for his family!

Another reminder to enjoy every minute with our loved ones and make sure we say I love you whenever we can!

Lori...I am sure we will catch up with Ashley and A! :) Please also keep Rose in your prayers...she is driving up from Florida!

And Elizabeth...right?

Take care everyone!

Groton Penny
