Since we are now able to send packages, wouldn't it be great if we shared our creative ideas of what we intend to send to our sailors?

My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Well dinner went well and my girl is growing up so fast. We talked about possible PIR dates as being around April 8 or 15th. Chicago will be pretty at that time of year. We also have started the wedding plans. They went over to the church today and settled on that is where they would like the wedding to be. So Now I have one son in the Navy a little sister whose boyfriend is in and a wedding to plan. Whew I am tired.
Brittany signed up for a Navy4moms - she will sign in as TK's Lily. So she will join our group and the PIR group.
Elizabeth, I don't know what going on with their payroll, but I'm really glad that A doesn't have any bills or he wouldn't have been able to pay them this week for sure. He's supposed to find out on Monday what the deal is. I'm going to ask my daughter's bf in the meantime what all the abbreviations are on his statement.
Lori, that's so crazy about the 100 days. ((hugs))
Penny, I will keep your friend's bf in my prayers. Keep us updated on his journey. Is she joining Navy4moms? If so, let me know which PIR date he gets, because I help in those groups now.
Cindy, it was a pretty generic book and that was disappointing. I guess since they have so many graduations every month, it would be too hard to personalize the entire book. :(
@Lori congrats on Drew... I worried CJ wanted to go Army so glad he didn't but I think he wants to change now. Yeah it is freaky about the days. Cool but freaky.
@Betsy glad you have water!!!
@Susan so glad you trip was good and you got to see D.
@Priscilla can't wait to hear about your new addition to the family!
I haven't been here all week. Too busy at work to check in and by night fall too tired. No news from CJ. I guess that means he is either okay or too busy to talk to me. Last call was when they were closing the base because of weather.
Monday I send my Mentee's boyfriend off to Basic. He is going Navy as well. So we are doing dinner tonight and the swearing in on Monday. We are excited to see him off. He has qualified for Navy Seals.
Yesterday we saw a high of about 32 here. People we going with out coats. Temps to drop again below zero today.. I am ready for warmer temps. have a great weekend.
Congratulations to Drew, (as I swallow hard)! My hats off to these boys that stand up and volunteer to serve our Country! HUGS Lori!!! I have tears too!!! I think the same way you do...Army scares me more too...We will be here step by step with ya girl, no worries on that part!!
@Wendi...E said his check was the same way...almost $400 short! And I believe it is only if they are in overseas fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan that no taxes are taken out then.
@Pricilla Yes they have to go online to print a form...E said he went online and printed the form needed that showed his earnings from the Navy up to the end of the year to do Taxes, hew as meeting with a person to have his taxes done yesterday provided by the Navy free of charge. I am not sure what site it is, but there is help on base (P-cola anyway) for all tax questions...he said they are very helpful.
@Anita...I thought the same thing about the Keel, was kind of lame! The center photo has a overhead shot of someone's PIR of all the Divisions...but its not 12/17's because all the guys are dressed in their Dress Whites?? Now, don't know about you, but I would think they would at least put a picture of the guys that are graduating on that day in the middle of the book...that's just me! But a nice memento to have nonetheless.
@Betsy...glad the water is back on! I Got A's card off to him, hope it reaches him in time!
Have a great Week-end everyone!
Rose, that's awful about that sailor. :( I just got A's info for his payroll acct from him and I'm going to check his everyday. Glad to hear that your son got his box. lol
Lori, You should also start a blog about your boys. I bet it would be pretty interesting.
Lori...congratulations to you and Drew! Wao, two different directions. Praying for you for strenght, everything is going to be ok. ☺
Betsy.....Yupi for water!!!
Priscilla.....every thing is going to be ok, praying for you. You bring memories of when I have Jo, my first one. Enjoy each day, every cry, every little moment, have a blast!! Do not wish like I remember I did "I wish that he already walk or this and that", now look him, on the Navy gosh they grow so quick!!!! Love you Jo!!!
Ladies....I just read something that happen to another kid. His info was stole and he end with $0 and the bank is investigating. I quick send a text to my Jo and let him know to not trust NOBODY and to check his account daily and what to do to check his account. Keep surprising me like I always said to my son "Not because they here they are good" sound horrible but is true and they need to be concious about it. JUst reming your sailor, even if they say that wonderful word that they love "I know" and they don't really know.
TGIF!!!!! Have a wonderful night!!!!!
