Since we are now able to send packages, wouldn't it be great if we shared our creative ideas of what we intend to send to our sailors?

My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Hi All! - Boy its been a while since Ive been here, just got done reading some post - Glad everyone is doing well. We too are doing great. S is in some intensive training spending 10/11 hours a day in class, day time for classes and night time for homework and study. everything is classified, nothing is allowed to leave the building so its all in a controlled enviroment. Its hard when we speak, he cant share anything about his days, one thing i got was "Im doing math problems that are two pages long, each!" LOL I can tell when we skype that he is physically and mentally exhausted, but still the same old kid that left here on 10/26. Im so proud of him, he's working very hard and getting great grades. we too are planning a trip for visit him in a few weeks, very excited about that. his 1st of 3 graduation will be April 8, he will get 10 days leave and will be able to come home. Then the 2nd schools will start and that will go until November, and then probably in January will be the start of the 3rd School. Over all S is really enjoying his time on base, enjoying the weather and making alot of friends. :)
a few questions, has anyone received the yearbook yet? and, what about the W-2, has anyone received thier kids yet?
Thanks..
I think that's actually against the law, isn't it?
Prsicilla, that's so great that the timng worked out for your husband.
Elizabeth, I haven't received the 12/22 Keel yet. I think it's being sent to my MIL though since she ordered it for my husband as a gift.
B'sproudmom, that's so terrible and seriously un-American if you ask me. Firing a kid because he wants to fight for our freedom. Same exact thing happened to my husband though.
He was working for Wells Fargo and wasn't to ship out until 6/13/2011. He spoke to them about his situation & even submitted his vacation paperwork to them so he could use it before shipping out. One day, they called him up to the office and fired him. Praise the Lord though, because the very next day, his recruiter called saying he was going to BC that Thursday - only 2days notice. Insane.
Lori, I want to see the picture of the car.
Elizabeth, good to "see" you. I hope the computer is in a good mood tonight when you get home.
Sharon, I hope you get your sailor home for his birthday. That would be so awesome!
Terry, I bet you can't wait to Skype and plan that trip.
B'sproudmom, that's so very sad. I would have billboard put up in that town telling that story. Those people are horrible.
Well, the cold hasn't done well for me today. Every pipe in my house is frozen. :( I have the heat up high, both fireplaces running and the faucets open hoping to thaw the main line, which is in the garage. I also have a space heater in front of the pipe. I called the water company and they are coming out with a sterno stove to try and thaw it. Please pray that the pipe doesn't burst. I am here by myself and just don't want to deal with that.
This is a note from FB from a woman I graduated with who has 18.5 years in the Navy herself. I am disgusted by this owner's behavior and am it sharing with everyone. So, if you come visit us in MI, remember his stance on our kids, spouses, grandkids, brothers, and sisters and do not patronize his place of business.
PLEASE READ!.....FYI to everyone I know..My son, Kyle, joined the U.S. Navy last week. I'm proud that he's made a decision to defend and serve his country. Unfortunately, his employer, THE FRENCH LAUNDRY in Fenton, MI punished him for it! The owner fired Kyle (the very next day!) because HE felt that Kyle's "loyalty" was not to THEM. Kyle was not due to go for 8 months & planned on working for them up to then. Kyle was completely open about it & even got coverage fm the shift mgr to go to his signing in. Apparently the Owner felt differently! I want all 2 know what kind of "American" ethics, or LACK-THERE-OF, The French Laundry has! To fire a kid because he joined the military 2 serve. I will never EVER give them my business or my AMERICAN earned $$ again!!
