My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

T thinks he's getting phased up to 3 this week or next at the latest.  He's hoping so as he wants to come home for his birthday rather than hang around VA Beach.  And since that's a three day weekend, he's jonesing to get off base.  Yay for living less than 300 miles away.

Hi everyone...we are having major computer issues so I haven't been able to post lately, but I have been reading all the posts on my phone and cracking up....:o)

I saw all the posts from the Groton mom's my T is ET NAV, can't remember if any of your Sailors are the same, this was T's 2nd choice and once we talked through it he finally felt like this was where he was suppose to be....good thing he's not like his mom because navigation is not my thing I get lost going around the block.

I also was reading about the Sailor's wanting their cars, my T of course is wanting to buy a car I am flippin out thinking of him driving in the snow and ice....good grief

My heart goes out to all the families traveling to Great Lakes for PIR tomorrow, I know in December I was nervous about traveling in the snow, I think back now and what I had to travel in was nothing compared to what the PIR 2/4 group will have to deal with, I hope all the families are able to get to GL, I will pray for safe travels

Has anyone received the Keel from 12/22?  I can't wait to get it hopefully it will come soon.

Well gotta run, crossing my fingers, that my computer at home has 2nd thoughts about its issues and resolves itself....ya that's not gonna happen....hopefully we will be up and running over the weekend....check back with you all then.  Everyone stay warm and safe with this wicked nasty storm. :o)

P.S. - Lori I look forward to hearing more on Drew's journey with the Army and Susan have fun in Pensacola with your Sailor, I have to admit I am a little jealous but very happy for you.

Susan  -  how awesome; so glad you feel good, he feels good.  I teared up reading your post.  Here I thought the car made it!  Sounds like you have a good game plan in place.  A should post a pic of my a's car.  Its white and then covered with white snow.  Drew tried to start it and its dead!  So we'll see if we take it to him or like you, sell and send him the money.  That is what I wanted A to do to begin with so it that ends of happening I will just have to laugh.  Tell Bethany good luck and have fun with your Sailor!

Betsy  -  stay warm!  Very Very cold in Michigan but its Michigan and to be expected!

Awwww, Susan I am so happy for you.  It sounds like a wonderful visit.  That is funny about the crosswalk.  A made us walk in it at GL too.  I so hope you can have more time with him.  I can't wait to see the pictures.  Blow a kiss to my A from across the street for me.  :)  It makes me happy just even knowing that one of my good friends is nearby my baby.

I just wanted to post really quick before I head to bed. Have been up since 3 am and have to be back up at 5:30. Yikes! Anyway we are in Pensacola. We decided at the last minute to not drive D's car since we were worried about it making it. We have decided to sell it and send him the $$. We had the coach bus drop us off at the gate at Corey Station. D was there waiting for us with a huge grin on his face looking so handsome in his camo. Man I love that kid! After we said hello - I made sure I didn't grab him and hug and kiss all over him since he was on base and in uniform, even though that's what I wanted to do! We turned a corner and there were 3 of his buddies waiting to meet us! It was so cool and it made me feel great that he has already made some really good friends! After we talked for awhile his buddies left and we headed across base to go eat at Subway, which is the only place to eat on base at C.S. It's much smaller than NAS P'cola. He told us what all the buildings were and scolded Bryan for not crossing in the crosswalk, lol. We had a nice time with him and he seemed so happy. He told us that he loves school and is positive that its what he wants to do with his life. It was such a relief to see him and to make sure that he really is ok. As you all know the phone calls and texting only say so much. Well that's it for tonight. We are hoping to see him tomorrow but not sure about it. He is positive he will be able to leave base Friday so we can spend the entire evening with him.
Lori - stay inside! Betsy- stay warm! And everyone else if your in this storm stay safe! Susan

It is currently minus 2 degrees here in New Mexico and going down tonight.  Doesn't sound like desert weather to me.   lol

Penny, glad to hear that Cj is doing well.  March isn't so far away now.  :)  The PIR scheduled for Friday will go on as planned.  I've been reading in their group,.  They don't cancel for anything and I guess I could understand why.  All those flights for sailors and scheduling would almost be impossible to reschedule.
Comment by CJ's Mom on February 2, 2011 at 11:01pm

Lori good luck to Drew... and best wishes for all those who are graduating this Friday.. CJ is doing well. He is the oldest boy in his room and that scares me... He just turned 19.. I was hoping he would have someone older who would take him under his wing. The other day he called me we talked for awhile and then he had to go because the "kids" were being naughty and having a pillow fight. He wanted to break it up. Really I think he wanted to join in.

His school is going good. He will be done in March. He said then he will have to class up and probably go on a hold until the rest of the HT guys come on board. He is anxious to be done. He will get his assignment after they take their strand test. what ever that means. I keep hearing about everyone getting their orders for their duty station and he has heard anything.

GL was in lockdown starting last night and today because of the storm. He said the group which is doing their A school grad will be doing it on Saturday. I am wondering if PIR will be postponed to Saturday due to the weather as Battlestations will not happen yesterday or today.

I am wanting to finish his valentine box so I can get it mailed. He wants me to buy his girlfriend roses for the holiday. So he is sending me money. Anyway we will see what happeneds.
