Just watching the news makes me stop and say a prayer for this Friday's PIR group family and friends trying to get to Chicago.  I would think it may present challenges for some.  Lake View Drive (I think its called) is peppered with stranded cars; O'Hare is supposed to reopen tomorrow so I hope and pray this week's graduating sailors have their loved ones in the stands on Friday.

Thanks everyone for your kinds thoughts and prayers for my Drew.  He travels to MEPS tomorrow.  I'll post an update on Friday.

Hello Browswifey WELCOME, and its 'bout time lol...Hurray you made it!! Your husband also known as "YA-YA or just YA" by family ;) is a good friend of my son's in Pensacola HoooooooYa !!! They were in boot camp together in Div 024 ship 03 as well! CONGRATULATIONS on the wedding, love the picture! I am sorry I missed meeting you at PIR...we were sitting just behind you I believe, at least we were behind Lori (Lo-Lo)! The dates above are the sailors Birthdays that are coming up...and its a refrigerator, if you didn't notice (I confess, I didn't know what it was LOL)!!!!! We send cards to all of them...and they love it!!

@ Betsy, COOL picture from A, and so nice of him to post that! E keeps his 'loot' in a drawer too, and guys are allowed to help themselves :)! I don't see any caramels...guess he ate those LOL!

@ Lori...((Hugs)) I don't know how you moms do it...sending more than one child off to the military so close to each other. I am with Betsy, got a lump in my throat just reading the word. Bitter Sweet, but hard! I hope the Army has just as great people on a support site :)!

@Wendy....anxiously awaiting the book, mine has not come yet! I did get the DVD and have not watched that yet, but E asked the other night if we would wait until he comes home now to watch it together...hmmm, yep, guess I can do that!

@Anita, your sailor is in my prayers and GOOD LUCK to him!!!

...praying for safe travels to all the parents attending this Friday's PIR!

Hi ladies...I need to find time to stop in more often! It takes forever to catch up when I've been away! Lucky for me we had a snow day today so that I could get caught up! :)

Lori...((hugs)) hearing MEPS brings an instant lump in my throat! Amazing how all of those emotions can come flooding back with one word! Regardless of what you find with Army sites, we are here for you. But it sure would be nice to be in touch with army people so that you can have that unique connection, plus it is a nice way to get info that our children don't always give us!

I hope all of you are safe in this crazy weather! I was thinking about the poor parents trying to get out for PIR on Friday! Prayers!

Betsy...I love your story! :)  They really appreciate the support from home...:)

This made me very happy.  My A posted this picture on his FB with the caption "I love my Mommy"  Apparently, my care packages are very appreciated.  :)  He has apparently put all his food in a drawer in his room.

Anita, my prayers are with him.  I'll also keep fingers crossed that he gets the military working dog job.  ((Hugs))  Pop in once in a while on chat, we are there in the evenings sometimes.

Brownswifey, if you send me your e-mail address, I can then invite you to the Yahoo group that we keep our sailors birthdays and addresses.  It is a private page, so we are the only people who have access to it.  We just love sending cards to each other's sailors.  Welcome!  We are so happy that you are here with us.

Wendi, How awesome!  I can't wait to see it.  My mail carrier may have tried to deliver mine yesterday, but left before I got the front door. (It took me all of 10 seconds too)  I bet it was that.  It's funny because I didn't even know what they were trying to deliver and I called the station today to give them h*ll.  My mail carrier has done this before and so I complained.  Now, I'm even more upset because it could have been The Keel and I have to wait until today for it.  :(

We woke up to 1 degrees today and tonight is going down below zero.  It has never been that cold here in my part of NM, since I have lived here and that is almost 6 years.  I'm sitting in front of my fireplace and plan on baking Valentine cookies today, so i will stay warm and toasty.  :)

welcome Brownswifey !! Glad you found us !! My son also graduated 12/17. He was ship 04 div 19. He is in Pensacola, at Corry Station. His rate is IT. That is our fridge above !!! It has the birthdates of our Sailors on it. You will find a link above where you can add your Sailors birthday, give the address, and it is placed on the yahoo site further up the page. Join in there and you will get reminders of when birthdays are happening, and the ladies on this site are sending birthday cards to them !! Nice huh !!  That site is used to protect our Sailors, and to keep them safe.  ~Donna~
