My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

nanny2 that poem really says it all. Thank you for sharing.

Cindy, I'm sorry to hear your son had to go to medical but glad he went and got treated. He probably didn't want to worry you. Us mom's seem to worry all the time. It's been really hard not to call or text K everyday to find out all the details.

Wendi, I hope H feels better soon. It seems like all our sailors were sick out of bootcamp or at least a lot of them. I think the protein bar is a good idea. She needs something to keep her blood sugar up.

Nanny2 that is a great poem

Cindy, I hope E feels better.

When I talked to H last night she said she had another cold. Got over the one she had after bootcamp, but got a new one. I also hope she is drinking water. I know she isn"t eating well because she doesn't like the food very much in the mess hall. Not taking time for breakfast because class starts at 6:30. Told her to get some kind of protein bar that she can take to class with her.

Nanny2, what a beautiful and moving poem, thank you.  RAOC

Cindy, your poor boy!  ((hugs)) to you.  I'm glad that he is now feeling better.  I don't blame you for being so worried.  It's so hard to let them grow up, when we will be moms forever.  ((hugs))

Nanny2 WOW...need a Kleenex now, but oh how perfect and fitting, thank you for sharing!!

E finally called this afternoon. He had been throwing up with diarrhea Tuesday all through the night, so went to Medical Wednesday morning and they said it was due to 'dehydration' so they hooked him up to a IV and pumped 2 liter's of fluid in. He said that helped, but was just tired!!! Yes, remind your Sailors...they do have to remember to DRINK WATER!!!! Ugghh!

Think he was getting a little frustrated with me (and hope as moms you understand) due to worry and concern...I was asking so many questions, 'did you work out too much, are you sleeping, what did you drink today,...etc'. you get the idea! He finally stopped me..."MOM...ENOUGH, I am fine!" Yes, they have to grow up and figure it out themselves...but NO, we don't have to stop being mom's!!!!!

Hugs everyone!

Awesome poem! Wow, how appropriate. Thank you for sharing.

Cindy - I'm so sorry that E is sick! I am even sorrier that you didn't know about it until after it was over! Have you found out what was wrong? I bet they didn't let him take his phone with him and when he got back to his barracks he was just exhausted. Please let us know how he is doing and I'm praying for him.

A Mother's Poem

I kissed and hugged him and watched him walk away
He graduated Boot Camp and is now on his way
He stood tall and proud as he walked and waved
I couldn’t be happier of the road he has paved
The weekend was short how I wished for more days
Just in awe of his presence and new Navy ways
His focus and maturity came in quick and nine weeks
I know he will find whatever he seeks
I am back to waiting for calls and the mail
Never knowing when the time comes for him to set sail
I will continue to wait for that next hug and next kiss
Not doing it daily is what I will miss
My son is a man now I need to let go
I don’t know if I can I just love him so
I am proud of my son and his accomplishments to date
As hard as it is I will continue to wait
I will wait for the hugs and wait for the kiss
I will continue to pray and continue to miss
Please take care of him God on his journey so new
It makes it easier for me knowing he has you.

Cindy  how awful. I will be praying for you & for E to get his strength back quickly. I also pray that our sailors learn to check in to give us peace of mind.  Finally heard from mine last night told him doesn't matter how old he is just send a text to let me know all is well.  Praying for the fallen sailors family, how sad.

Hello again! Thanks Betsy for the hugs...right back at ya! I could not get a hold of E yesterday...he was not responding to any texts, I left a message on his phone. Then finally last night at 9:30 I finally got a text ...all it said was "Sorry I was sleeping and Sorry, I didn't respond today, I was in Medical all day hooked up to a IV, I was deydrated!" OMG...I tried calling right away..he didnt' answer, and I told him to call home and I still have not heard anything...as to FROM WHAT?!?!?! Rough night...of not sleeping and holding onto my cell hoping for another text....or call! ;o````/ I really didn't want to keep calling if he was sleeping.

Thanks for listening.

Oh my gosh, sad news about the sailor that passed. i said a prayer for her family tonight.

Penny- Groton Penny couldn't have said it better. What a great job you have done raising your boy that he has so much compassion for others. You should be so proud.

Lisa- enjoy your web cam talk. I can't wait until I get another with my sailor.

Betsy- LOL, hopefully TJ will be able to SKYPE me soon, his computer is on it's way to him.

Cindy- Stay warm!!!

Take Care all,

Stacey
