My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Ladies - I suscribe to the Navy News and I just received a email on my phone that said that a Sailor has gone missing from the USS Halsy which is in the Gulf of Oman. All is says is that US and British units are searching. He did not report to watch and after searching the ship a man overboard was called. They are withholding his name while conducting the search.

Please, please pray for this Sailor and his family. I know this will hit you as hard as it did me.

Morning, ladies!  As I shared previously, I got to go visit my sailor in Virginia Beach this past weekend, in order to bring him his civvies.  I'm pleased to report that he's doing really well!  I got to meet a couple of his friends, and I spent two days playing chauffeur.  The drive was just a little over 3 hours, so I told him it's even worth a day trip if he really wants to see me or needs something from home.  I think next time I'll try to swing staying on the base at the Navy Lodge.  Currently, I'm planning to go visit him again at the end of February for his birthday, and this may involve whale watching.  Fun, eh?

But I was just so glad to see him and see how happy he was in general.  And he's so dedicated!  He had a project due today and since he had duty on Monday, he went over to the schoolhouse early on Sunday to finish it.  This is not the teenager I knew who put off doing homework!

Betsy, sounds like a lot going on with you right now. I will check into chat tonight and see if you are there. Meanwhile, I will think good thoughts for you and send you lots of ((HUGS)).

Stacey, I am SO sorry to hear about your dad!! I will keep you in my prayers!!

Penny, congrats on finishing the application. What do you want to study?? Best wishes on getting accepted.

Cindy, you're right, don't watch that video at work. I watched it 2 times in a row and just sat here with tears running down my face. GOOD tears mind you, but I looked at all the little sailors (in their dress blues) and thought that they all looked so much like IB. (OK-they weren't REALLY that little-just reminded me of my boy. My perspective on troups has really changed since I have one of my very own. LOL

Lisa, happy to hear that you connected with Z on his birthday. Yes, I agree, this is MUCH better than BC!!

Comment by Lisa GL Corpsman A school on January 17, 2011 at 7:25pm
Just did the webcam with Z! It's his birthday today :) I'm so thankful he has a computer and webcam now. Him being at school is much easier then being a boot camp! I hope you all have a wonderful week!
