OMG Lynn, that just isn't right! When my son was traveling to San Diego, I reserved him a room and he had no problems, although that was in Flagstaff. I wonder if that is Marriott's policy or that particular hotel. I will definitely remember that chain the next time I stay overnight somewhere.

great stories all. Lynn, I emailed her last night, just put fabric in the subject line as I didn't read these posts last night.

will send another one to her doing what you said. thanks for your help.

When I was in college I had a "big ole" Ford LTD. I packed it to the gills with stuff I absolutely had to have at college. When it died, I bought a teeny tiny little foreign car (an Opel) that had just enough room for what I needed. The point is, we get used to certain things and think it has to be like that forever. When it changes, we do also; whether modes of communication or car sizes.

All this to say, I still like a real letter with a postage stamp on it! Texting just isn't the same...

Dolly, thanks for the mom stories. They blessed my heart.

Wow Lynn, I guess I never noticed you have 3 sailors. I have two kinda. One is my biological son and one is one that lived with us when he was in high school. He has been in for about 12 years and is EOD. He has been a great example and role model for my sailor. Ethan was only 5 or 6 when he came to live with us.

Today is my last work day for the week and I get to go see my granddaughter tomorrow. Long drive but seeing that smile is soooo worth it! You all have a super blessed day!

Thanks dolly, that kind of brings it home for me. I can only imagine what a mom had to deal with not having the 'instant' messages and calls that we get now. Your mom sounds like a wonderful woman. Mine passed away 6 years ago April 19th and this time of year is always tough for me. Her birthday would be on May 11th and Mother's Day around the same time each year is hard. She had COPD and only had about 11% lung capacity when she died but never complained. She would get up every morning and fix my dad's breakfast and then have to rest for hours just to fix his lunch but that was what she enjoyed doing. My sailor got a tattoo a few months ago with her name on it and a hummingbird. She was a very special lady.

Has anyone heard if any N4M groups are doing anything for the navy families in Tennessee that were flooded? Or if there is a need for them. The pictures of the flooding were bad.

WOW! Dolly, that is beautiful! Would you post that on the Heads at Ease page? I
don't know how to do these videos. thanks.

Lynn, the HAE moms are interested in a picture of the fabric, but will take it without a photo. thanks.

off to work. it is hot here today and I have some playground duty as well as craft time to make something for mom.

Hi ladies, it is fun to read all this.

yes, I've heard that saying about the man etc. A bubbler is a water fountain. When I was a girl, they still had them on the street corners. They were a white procelain stand with a bowl with a dozen or so holes in the bottom. The water "bubbled" up in there and you drank. I have a t-shirt with one on it.
When I first moved to Tucson, I always asked for a bubbler-got lots of strange looks.

Dolly, come and join the Heads at Ease group. We sew and build a stash, then mail.

Lynn, I would like the fabric. I gave you my email address on your page, so if you would email me, I'll give you the address that I want it to go to. I'll have it sent to another Navy mom who is making crafts to sell for HAE and her blue star moms group.
I'll double check with her, but please email me. thanks!

"Bubbler" = water fountain. I'm originally from Chicago, have family in Milwaukee & a friend from Canada who said, "bubbler."
Comment by Sue-Pillowcase lady on May 4, 2010 at 1:11pm
back from tests. Lynn, have you seen the fabric? would be good for pillowcases. remember for them you want to do the "face or inside of the wrist" test. If it is scratchy to you, you don't want to use it.

I have HAE crew members who are making crafts for craft fairs and selling the things, money goes to HAE for more pillowcases. Dolly, I see that you mentioned wanting it. Do you do craft fairs? that could be a way to get some $ to make pcs if the project goes forward. I haven't seen many sign up to say "yes" I will do xyz.

Lynn, make sure you use a flat rate box. I stuff alot of fabric in one of those. Maybe you could split it between us.

Dolly, I'm from the north and many of your sayings are used there too.

Anybody know what a bubbler is? that's a Milwaukee specific term. haha
