My son left Saturday morning for his 1st duty station aboard the USS Abe Lincoln. He said he would be back fo a visit in about 1 1/2 years. I'm so heartbroken, is this a normal feeling and how do you deal with it. Can someone please help me. Thanks

Chris, had that same experience yesterday at church. My pastor announced that Ben was there from the pulpit- he said that Ben was admiral and people looked so surprised and then he confessed that's what his mom says-not really, but I am proud of him.
We had to leave fast though to get him to the airport. You are right about being overwhelmed by the attention.

The pillowcase project is on hold pending approval by the command. Stephanie Alice contacted someone and he was supposed to be checking into it. I don't know anything more than that. Pat, whose son was on the Nimitz would be a wonderful woman to chat with. She coordinated their Christmas project last year and is heading up the project for the Truman this year.

Marigold, welcome. just go ahead and ask questions.

Verizon wouldn't do anything phone wise for my son on last deployment. he was married at the time, so that was probably a factor. He had it for Hawaii though and that was great.

Both of us went on TC. We did have to get a female co-sponsor for me. It was a girl in my son's shop. She just agreed to show me around the ship around with the berthings, give me the rules etc. I spent most of my time with my son or the tiger tours.

some people took it from Hawaii to Everett.

Oh my Dolly, now I really have an image with those words, hha.

Mary, a mouse over the foot-and you were sitting in the right place. And a panther under the floor! YIKES. Dolly, I would've moved too!
We have javelina in Tucson and they roam pretty free. Don't mind them. Don't mind the gila monsters, even the rattlesnakes (except when they come into my kitchen and are 4-5 feet long-that one didn't go around my neck), the coyotes or the bobcats, it's those sneaky spiders that I mind.
the gator-how big was it? I am thinking it's a culvert along side the driveway. And baby girls trying to pet a panther! oh my.

When I did TC, one night there was an ice cream social and kareoke-I think they do that on a regular basis. Anyway, I wanted my son and I to do a song-I don't sing, but I thought it would be fun to just ham it up. he said "NO WAY mom and if you try anything, I am out of here". Sooo, maybe the ladies would be better partners?

We are the "exotic" Lincoln ladies-starting with the chicken dance. this really makes me laugh.
well, I have to tell the truth. same school carnival, I also wore a python around my neck. My mom thought I was nuts. probably so.

And Dolly, I forgot to mention about hubby and possum! yikes! how did he get it off. the poor thing was probably terrified-I mean the possum haha.

ladies, you are cracking me up! Dolly, thanks for the lesson. I couldn't figure that word out. Still would love to hear you say it and Chris too. side by side-I bet you 2 would sound real different.

snake dance-yep, I'd be dancing with a snake in my shirt. I did walk around a school carnival once with a boa around my neck, but it didn't go down my shirt-just wrapped around my neck a couple of times-sneaky thng.

and how do you pronounce it? and thanks LInda, I was wondering but didn't want to the only one going "duh?"

episode, with a southern tang? or a English one?

would love to join in the chicken dance town. I've never been up that way. We'll see what happens in the coming months.

last wedding I attended in Tucson, also had the chicken dance. So it gets around. Dolly, you will have to start a new tradition!
