Cara, my son is attached to a squadron and he goes where they go. the squadron is assigned to the Lincoln, but I suppose that could change. So while I consider myself a Lincoln mom, I really am a squadron mom and Lincoln when my son is on the ship. He is based in VA. He is currently on a det with the squadron in another state.
It should be the same for your finance. He will go on training dets (detachment-means they are away from their home base-my son explained that to me) with his squadron to prepare for deployment.
I have no idea how long the next deployment will be, but the one in 2008 was 7 months.

I hope this helps. I would say that if you want to be married before the next deployment, you should do it sooner than later and maybe make it simpler if you need to speed it up.

Once he reports, he should have alittle clearer picture on dets. But he will need to ask his squadron commander for the det schedule. My son knew he would be gone this month severall months ago.

nice looking candle. glad the tsumani has passed. Loved the frontal photo of the Lincoln. I remembered fondly walking that flight deck. My son is off with his squadron on a training det which will prepare them to join the Lincoln one of these days.

Dolly, I read your comment on the interview clip. I am humbled by your kind words and thought "who is that lady she is talking about". thank you.
