While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Bobbie>> my son graduated Boot Camp in March, he was Grad & Go. Right after PIR he had to go and move his stuff to the Corpsman A School Dorms, he had to go through an orientation for the new rules, etc. That took until 4 to 5pm, he called and we picked him up at the Gate ( we actually picked him up at the Train Station, his dorm was right beside it) He stayed with us the entire weekend, he had to be back late that Sunday Night) He took his cell phone, lap top, I Pod, etc with him. He kept some of his civilian clothes with him also. We had to mail him more civilian clothes/shoes/belts... They can wear them as time goes on: they have to earn the privilege! I don't have a clue what it will be like for your son, they change things often & lots of thing depend on their commanders and how they do things. I think some parents can't stay after graduation with them until their A School starts....so they look for a place to store their stuff a couple of days??? just don't know for sure about all that...keep asking questions, your son will let you know but it may be the last minute, so keep reading & just be prepared! We had planned to leave him at the gate that Sunday Night by 7pm like we had been told & had read, BUT he did not have to check into his dorm until 9:45pm that night for Corpsman A School, so it was a very good thing that we had reserved our hotel through Sunday night! We added another night to our stay since we could spend another few hours with him! He was able to wash his fatigues (sp?) & get everything reorganized & packed up!
We left that Monday morning instead. It was so well worth it!

bobbie...on PIR weekend...because our sailor was "grad and go" and was staying at GL for school, YES he was allowed to then have and keep a cell phone and laptop. Immediately after PIR, we had to wait about three hours for him to "check in" across the street on the school side, (move into his new barracks, go over liberty rules, etc.) and then he had liberty and spent time with us.
That was January...The liberty rules have changed a bit since then, but I haven't heard anything about them not being able to have their phones/laptop (if they are grad and go). I'm sure Angie would know!

Angie while you are talking about gifts, my son is scheduled to be finished A school for OS at the end of the month. We have been trying to think of something useful, not sure what a Gerber or leatherman are. Any other suggestions?

Bobbie, There used to be a storage place outside of base. I heard that it is no longer in business. (maybe there is another one)
I ended up shipping our son's Cell Phone. He decided to just buy another Laptop online. I heard you can buy them at the NEX as well.

thx sandy so that means bring back home his stuff and fedex it to him lol i was told there were some rental lockers outside of the base between it and the school have anyone heard about this?

bobbie, he can't return to boot camp with Laptop and Cell phone. Not permitted.
We had to wait until our son moved into (A)school before we sent my son his.

my son has 30 days b4 he graduates from bc and then will be attending schhol in gl can someone tell me if i will be able to leave his laptop and cell with him the sunday after pir?

When my son graduated BC, we took him shopping for a wrist watch and an electric razor. Of course the watch had to have military time and an alarm and be water resistant (his desires). He wears it every day since they can"t have cell phones on them. He loves the electric razor!!! Takes less time in the mornings!!!
