Hi,

My condolences, good to hear she lived a good long life. It would be appropriate for him to wear his dress Blues, but he can wear civilian clothes if he chooses. Dress blues would only be mandatory for a military funeral.

I told Thomas I was going to pick up his favorite pizza on Friday, and he sounded disappointed! SHOCK! He wants my sweet n sour chicken!

The rule of thumb I was taught ages ago was to fly in civvies when going overseas or any high risk area, within the continental US is was considered safe to wear the uniform.

But if that's what his ship said, he should follow his instructions.

Tyler's ship was told not to wear their uniforms as this was a security risk right now. He'll be coming in his civvies.

Susan, she can wear her civvies while on leave, but do let her know that "the uniform police" are out there... we're every single active duty and/or retired sailor who still has pride in the Navy. Yes, I used to smuggle my civvies out, girls are much harder to catch, but the issue is if she wears her uniform incorrectly in public. Someone is bound to tell her to square it away. I have a whole blog about that, LOL.

Hoppi's a Navy Counselor, a chief.

I do know RTC wouldn't be cutting his leave papers anyway, not once he grads and checks out. That happens on the A school side. They might push his leave paperwork through, but he must have those papers in hand. A very big maybe which possibly may not be answered until he's checked into the school.

I'm pretty sure the leave papers trump the phase one liberty requirements once they are at home. Leave always trumps liberty.

Susan, looks like I'm breaking out the sunscreen too then!!!! I want the snow to melt enough so I can see my Christmas lights on the roof. They make the snow glow when they're under, but you can't really see them.
Comment by Vee, Michael's Proud Grandmother on December 13, 2009 at 10:18pm
Hi all - it's been quite awhile since I posted on here. Mainly because Michael has been on hold for 3 months since completing A school and that put me on hold, too. He got his final orders on Friday eve and will be talking to his PLR to finalize everything tomorrow, Monday. He will be heading west to San Diego for VLS "C" School and will be leaving GL as soon as he can. He is insisting on driving alone and says he can do it straight through...I am a nervous wreck and have been trying to help him with an itinerary so he can miss most of the winter weather. I so wish he had waited to buy a POV until he got to San Diego. After San Diego, he will be on a ship in Hawaii...sometime in June 2010.
I am leaving in the morning to spend 3 weeks in Georgia with my family back there and won't be able to be online until mid-January. So, I wish all of you a
very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a blessed NEW YEAR..... Vee

Yes, the Navy/Army game was great!!!
