Will - what a great post for Laura.....B/Z to you!!!!! And, thanks for the kind words for myself.....Age really is just a number and I certainly don't feel mine because my heart stays young enough to keep me in my "teens." :D

Laura - thanks for the location of where you live.....on the other end of the State from my son and family. They have very good friends who live near Savannah.
Sailors get 1.5 days of leave per month and must have finished Phase 2 to take it. They must put in a "chit" to take this leave and must have that time on the books. My best advice to you for the time being would be for you to concentrate on YOUR SCHOOLING and let him concentrate on his Navy. I know a lot of these things you don't like to hear, but wouldn't you rather know what you are dealing with than be in the dark??? We have all gone through these woes whether is has been a son, daughter, husband, wife, grandson or granddaughter. It does get easier as time goes by and if he knows he has your support through all the phases of his Navy life, he will be successful.

Hoppi - Good Morning; how are you doing? And, thanks for the nice words. I guess some things good do come from age....It's the "grandma" in me I suppose.
HAGD....
.Are you riding this weekend? I will be riding with the Legion Riders in the parade in a small town about 25 miles south of me...town is called Independence and it is the County Seat.....and it is going to be 99 degrees...

Laura - where is Jesup in relation to Dawsonville? Dawsonville is about 1 hour north of Atlanta and the east portion of the city sits on Lake Lanier. I am coming back to visit my family in Dawsonville in 4 weeks...that is why I ask.

Hello Laura,
I think everyone has answered your question about where your BF may be stationed. You are young and inexperienced with all this and I sympathize with you. I am a grandma on here and not young, but was very inexperienced when my grandson joined the Navy and I found this site of GREAT folks who are so supportive. So, bear with us; you are hopefully in for the full 4 years and HANG ON for the ride. It will be nothing like you have experienced so far in your young life. We are here to support you through it all...remember that!!! Also, loving and supporting your Sailor along with understanding and patience will pay off for you in the long run.....I hope my little "grandma" talk has not offended you in any way. (((HUGS)))

My first duty station was the Communications Station in Yokosuka, after a very long C school. I did get to pick my C school orders, but almost my entire class went to the same school. Just happened the detailer remembered I'd wanted to go to Japan and hadn't taken the short C school/Misawa orders, and he assigned me to Japan. We had plenty of junior married sailors on their first duty station working in the shop.

Would married sailors get sent overseas for their 1st duty station?
