Hi Vee, thank you for the kind words. Brett went in as an E-3. He is 24 years old and has his associates degree in criminal justice so that qualified him for his rank. He is anxious to take the test to grade up to E-4. I am not sure of the time frame as to when he can take it. Maybe Will or Hoppi can answer that?. Good nite all.

Evening Will - all is well here!
Letha - I hope your son gets his chit approved; will be keeping fingers crossed for you.
Felecia - I was sure HM A-School was different than the rest, so am glad Hoppi came on and got you the information you needed.

Felecia - Thanks for the info.on your fiance's status. Will (our leader) posted this comment earlier this morning re: liberty....Maybe it will help until he or Hoppi sign on again today:
'As far as Phases of Liberty go, a student has to spend a minimum of 14 days on PHS 1 to properly qualify in Watchstanding. He also has to take a written test that pertains to Naval history, watchstanding procedures and the Chain of Command. Finally, he has to take a Physical Readiness Test to ensure he can pass our PFA Standards. It's a fair bit of stuff to do, but it is a requirement. Your Boyfriend has the option of knocking out his qualifications early, but the 14 day wait is standard for all students. Hope that helps."

Hi Felecia - I'm glad you found this site of wonderful people for answers and support. What stage is Seddrick in? I take it he just graduated BC. And what rate is he going for? Your answers will help us answer your question about Liberty.
So.....

Hi Karen C...thanks for the complement. I hope you will be adding your info to the GM discussion forum....How are you doing today? I'm getting ready to ride this Saturday in the 4th of July parade in Independence, CA, with the Legion Riders. My S/O is a member having been a retired Navy guy.
Will - thanks so much for the info on the 4th of July weekend liberty....

Hello Ana - There had been discussion about leave for July 4th weekend a few pages back, but I don't believe I have seen what the final decision was. I do think it is a 4-day leave for the sailors who don't have duty, but I'll let Will or Hoppi answer it for certain. HAGD.....

Happy Monday everyone...
Theresa - only a few more days til you get to see Nick....WoooooHooooo! Call me cuz I didn't get your PM last night.

Dori - I'm going to look up that pie in a jar...sounds interesting to me. I am not a "kitchen" person and hadn't baked a pie in years and years. I just can't get excited about cooking for one person.

Melanie - enjoy DJ when he is home this weekend. I know you will!!
Lots of great info the last day posted here....B/Z to Hoppi, Will and all you Moms, GrandMoms who contributed.....

Everyone, have a blessed day!

Laura, it is true they cannot use their phones while walking in uniform, nor can they take them to class. That means when you know his class schedule, you will know when he will most likely be able to communicate with you.

As for flying home on long weekends... that may not be possible. Sailors at Great Lakes may not travel more than 300 miles away from the base while on liberty. Liberty would be "normal" time off, such as weekends. To travel further than 300 miles, he must request leave, and that is usually not given to sailors in training status.
