Victoria called me concerned about math, not her favorite subject and she is in a math-related rate. She commented that she was amazed that so few wanted to study outside of class. So there may be some sailors who have the impression that they only need to put in the time required, not extra time if they really need it. She also commented that some seemed to want to rush through everything and not learn the material.

I think sometimes we forget that many of these sailors are just out of high school and may not have developed the best of study habits. I know many I had in college suffered from this. As useful information, I used to keep track of attendance and office visits for help. Then when a student came in, panicking because they didn't understand the material for the test, I could point out that it might help if they attended and/or made use of the office hours earlier. I didn't take kindly to phone calls at home at midnight! Student hours were different from mine. Loved it when e-mail became available.

Vee, I'll swap you some roast and Yorkshire pudding for a slice of cherry pie.... one of my favorites! Did you know you could bake a pie in a jar, seal it and send it??? One of Molly's moms did that for an adopted sailor. He said he ate three of them at one sitting! DH says I never bake pies anyway so no pies in a jar for the adopted sailors. LOL

Hoppi, I do make Yorkshire pudding. It is so easy and ever so good.

I'm a Navy brat so I'm from all over. I'm one of those with no roots which is why I think organizations like Overseas Brats is so popular. I went to four high schools in three countries (US, Germany and Italy, where I graduated). My freshman year in college was at U of Md. in Munich. I consider Virginia the closest thing to "home" because Dad had so many DC tours ... Pentagon, War College, BUAIR (Not sure if that is the correct letters) ... and we always came back to the same house, which he purchased on the first DC tour.

Dori - I just made reservations for the next flight to your home...I want some of that roast and Yorkshire pudding....I made a cherry pie today with fresh cherries from a friend's tree; didn't have quite enough so threw in some strawberries; didn't have tapioca, so used flour; and used Amaretto instead of Almond extract.....Like I told Gary, I don't do kitchen too well. lol lol

Gary, see what I posted when I introduced myself. I didn't have exact days/dates to post but I will get them from Michael. I think I covered everything Michael has done since B.C. I don't do kitchen too well, but I am a good packer. I'll list the families I know of over on the forum. That's next. Now, go finish packing and don't forget to take the CC Pie so you can wash it down with a Margarita when you get there.....

Hoppi and Will - keep a close look over my shoulder so I don't mess up, PLEASE!

Off topic: Will tells us about his good dinners. I had a really good one this evening. Rib roast, Yorkshire pudding, green beans and gravy. DH said he could sit at eat the whole roast at one sitting. Luckily better judgment prevailed!

Okay, I started one. Is this what you were thinking about? I introduced Victoria. Hoppi, you can tell me if my assumptions are correct. If not please correct my misunderstanding so others can learn. Many thanks.
