Happy Sunday morning everyone!
Brenda....how are you doing today?
LAURIE.....You have been in my thoughts so much these last few days with Josh. He will enjoy SD while he is waiting to be deployed. I'm so glad you enjoyed your time with him. I'm still waiting to hear if Michael is going to get his leave chit approved for June 4-16 to come home. GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK!!! Hoppi is flying to San Francisco today with hubby on vacation and WIll is still missing....lol I think we better form a search party to look for him.
Kimberly...hang in there with us...I'm sure we will be seeing Will the first of the week.
Have a blessed day everyone.....

WELCOME KIMBERLY....Yes, you are in the right group especially for the Great Lakes. Is your husband in BC right now or has he had his PIR and is now on the school side? We have two fabulous leaders on here (both are in the Navy and stationed at GL)...Will and Hoppi...However, Hoppi starts her vacation tomorrow and Will has been gone for a week. So, hang in there and someone will be answering your questions real soon. My grandson is going to be a Gunners Mate (GM) and I can answer a few questions about that process, but don't know enough about EN to help you right now. We have a great bunch of people on here (Moms, Dads and a couple of Grandmas) and we have a lot of fun along with our learning. You might want to look up above in the Discussion Forum to see if there is any pertinent info up there. Again, welcome to our unique group. Have a good evening....Vee

Sarosa...hang in there; you will be hearing from your son very soon if he is on the A school side. Does he have a cell phone now? In the early stages of my grandson's Navy career, I would send him pre-paid calling cards which helped until he had his PIR and moved over to the school side and got his cell phone. I hear you about not driving through Chicago. I used to live in the L.A. area in SoCal, but have been out of that turmoil for 15 years and I do not like to have to go back and drive in it. Unfortunately, I must do that once in awhile if I want to visit my SoCal family. HAGD!!!!

Good morning everyone...and a WARM WELCOME to all our newest members!
Hoppi - remember to put the BUENA VISTA on your list (at the Wharf). Take the Hyde/Powell Street cable car down to the turn-around and jump off, cross the street and have a martini there....one for me, too! :~}
Brenda - I bet you are getting so excited to see your son. Enjoy your time with him.
Roni - NO SIGHTING OF OUR LEADER OVER HERE. I THINK HE WENT IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. "WILL" CALL HOME!
Everyone have a great day and a blessed weekend~~~~

Funny uniform underthings story: when I was in San Diego, I wore single piece body suits under my whites, you know the body shaper things that are cut something like a swimsuit. The bottom edges had flat lace to keep them from riding up. It took me a few weeks to figure out why the guys in class called me "Lacy".

That's one thing about the new working uniforms, no visible panty lace!

For those of you unfamiliar with the uniforms being phased out, I'm talking about the working whites, white shirt and white pants... they're practically see through.

Hoppi, I lived in SF in the 70s.... and I never went to Alcatraz. I love the Japanese Gardens, Ghiradelli Square (chocolate factory!) and all the art museums. And Chinatown! You can't miss Chinatown! I lived down in the Mission District, which was wild back then. Pre-Navy days, akthough I did still have a retired dependent daughter ID card. Technically I was still in college.

The whole thing about calling barracks "ships" just drives me nuts. LOL. Okay, it provides a bit of training, but dad, hubby and I are old sailors who roll our eyes at "new tradition". (yeah, I feel better now).
