While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Bonnie, I do not know about all the schools in GL. My two graduated GM A-school awhile back. It was indeed a graduation that I went to, and was so proud and honored to have attended! It is Nothing like PIR, but very grand and awesome in its own right! Nothing but pride of what they accomplish! My boys kept telling me it was going to be nothing, and that I did not have to come the 7 hrs up, but when I showed up, they were very glad! And so was I, they really do have your sailor's best in mind! It is a certificate that they receive, and the ceremony is short, but still an awesome experience!

My grandson PIR on 01-09-09 and was a grad and go, also. He has completed his SCC around 02-11-09 and has been on hold for GM "A" school ever since. Actually, he is awaiting his ATT school first, then on to A school. What is your son going to be? I can't answer your question about A school graduation, but someone on here will. Even with leathers~~ My friend rode with some of the club members Friday when it was almost 80 here, but I had an appointment and couldn't make this ride. Now, we'll wait until the next warm day. Yes, RONI, "March Madness" means outdoors and spring cleaning inside for me, too. I did more leaves yesterday until the winds came up, so I hurried and put the tools up and got inside. Woke up to rain this morning with a few snow flakes, but the snow isn't sticking...so it's inside work today. I could use a Tiger Balm patch today, but have to drive 20 miles to get one, so I'll tough it out.
Will, I take it the knee is all better now?

Comment by kim ann on March 22, 2009 at 12:05am: My boys have gone there also. All the mail comes to my house, but as it has their name on it, I do not open it unless they have asked me. I feel it is their own now, and I now relinguish all the rites of passage to them. They are responsible young men, and I will treat them as such. When I went to my sons PIR, I had taken their mail up to them, and one bank statement had said the same thing, plus they had mailed cards to our "home" address. It does not harm their accounts, nor closes them till they get to straighten it out. In BC they do not get to use their money anyhow, so it really did not matter. Even to this day, their account statements come here, which I either keep them till I get their next address to mail them all to them, or till they come home. Whichever they request from me.
