Amy, I can only tell you my experience on the move after PIR. Michael moved to the "other side" immediately after his PIR on a Friday, then was able to spend Saturday and Sunday with his parents off base. I don't know if he had to report back to base each night or not..probably so. Each case seems to be a little different. Vee

Joan, there is also a McDonalds on base. I just sent Michael gift cards for Taco Bell and Mickey Ds as those were his preference. I forgot to tell you that in my "sidebar" message. They didn't go in his "care package." I sent them separately....Vee

I know about the listing for the "terms" I would like to know what the everyday words are. The ones used when describing everyday tasks and duties and the slang for other stuff. Thanks again.

Good morning everyone! I hope you all are half-way through a great weekend~~
Bill, I answered your "sidebar"....and I know my Michael gets frustrated also because I keep asking him what everything means. I got a lesson on "gig line" and "dog duty" the other day.

Morning Vee, I will be sure to post the minute I have any firm info from my boy.

Will,Hoppi and Chris, how about giving us civilians a glossary of Navy terms? I know what muster and duty and watch are but how about the rest? It would help us when talking to our sailors. My son gets a little frustrated when I keep asking him what "that" means Thanks, post ya later,Bill

Hi Bill....your Brett and my Michael had their PIR same day; and finished their SCC same date or very close. Be sure to post when Brett starts ATT so I will have some idea when Michael's will start. I do think things will move faster now with the night classes. I think Michael is getting antsy, too, and wants to get on with his schooling. You have a good night...Vee

Hey Theresa, Brett finished SCC on 2/11/09 and is still on hold for ATT. He thinks he will class up this coming week. He also is in for GM. His roommate started ATT 2 weeks ago and they are seeing a lot of movement in the classes so apparently the night classes have in fact sped things up .When did Nick PIR? Brett had his PIR on 1/09/09 so the ants in his pants have become the size of grizzly bears and he is crazed to get things moving. I hope that things move a lot faster for the incoming classes. All this waiting has taken its toll on a huge number of sailors as far as attitude and depression. But now that things are moving it will all wash out. Have a good night. Bill

Hey Theresa...we all have those "moments" .... not to worry about it. I just finished my brownies and just about have my little "care package" ready to mail to Michael...will have to wait now until Monday to do that. I know he is anxious to get "grandma's home baking"....Byeeee for now

Good day all, open question for the staff. I know they have started night classes for ATT. How much time will this cut from the hold times? My son was told 28-35 days after completing SCC so will this cut time hold time in half or what? Thanks, Bill

Hey, all, visit my group PGR Navy Moms. The Patriot Guard Riders are the ones who shield the families from protesters--there is a law about how close they can get--in the Midwest that puts them in the middle of a corn field! Well, sometimes, but usually we hear they're coming but they don't show. I've posted a lot of pictures on my page, too. We did a welcome home mission today for a wounded warrior. I'll get those pictures up soon.

Talked to my son today. He said there's bronchitis going around at GL. He said no surprise when you consider the weapons have ten years of creepin' crud built up. He's busy making lesson plans--I knew I raised one teacher, but never dreamed I raised two!
