Beth, Wow...it would be great if they could meet each other and share some meals and have time to chat. This experience has to be an emotional rollercoaster for her. Our grandson says he's fine, but then you know "guys" ...he might not want to open up completely! Anyway, he tells us that he's picking up extra jobs to make extra money to keep busy. Whatever that means...perhaps pulling duty for other sailors??? Let's talk more.

Barb - My daughter is also on the Enterprise with a PIR on 1/14. She was a rock during boot camp and we had an incredible extended weekend together. Now she is experiencing extreme homesickness and sounds very lonely. I reassure her that a letdown of this type is normal. She is Navy strong and will get thru this. Anyone else have similar situations with their grads?

At least he will only have 2 weeks left of ATT in March.

Dillons Mom, After all that torture they spelled his name wrong????

I am not looking forward to the 2nd week in March when my son will be back in ATT.

Pam (GM MOM)....our grandson is on USS Enterprise right now. He just moved over there after his PIR 1/14. Wish he was one of the sailors starting A school this week, but I don't think that will be happening for a while. He's still a newbie!

Hi Dillons Mom. My son was so happy to finish the most of ATT too. He is an FC so after (A)school he will have to finish the last 2 weeks of ATT. He is not looking forward to it.

My son has many friends who are GM's. I will ask him if he knows how long school is for them.

my daughter was grad and go last week. I brought her laptop, phone, ipod etc. plus some "civvies" to wear and we rented a locker near the base at LOCK AND GO.Super nice young couple -he is an RDC. Go to their website and they will mail you a coupon for $10.00 off. Their website is: www.thelockandgo.com. As it turned out she was allowed to bring all her electronics on base with her when she reported in but I would definitely have the locker plan as a backup.Graduation was an awesome experience. The whole weekend was perfect. She was able to stay with us the whole weekend after her check .in process which took her a couple of hours. She is in temporary housing right now.

Dillons mom,  My son really likes the school but, at the same time he wants to get it done and move on with his career.

gvnavydad-  My son also graduated last week but did not move until yesterday.  I brought his phone and laptopn with me to graduation only to bring it back home again.  I am shipping everything back to him this weekend.

gvnavydad ~ Your son can have those things if he is a grad-n-go....he can not take anything back with him to the boot camp side.  My sons PIR was this past week and he also is staying in GL for A school.  He did not move over to his school until Wednesday so I had to ship everything to him today.
