Priscilla, they will give him instructions. Going on leave changes the usual liberty rules, so hard to say what they'll tell him. Probably that he shouldn't drink alcohol or drive a car.
My nephew came home on emergency leave during his phase one of A school. He was not supposed to drink, or to drive, during that time. That was Charleston, though, not Great Lakes. Also, your hubby won't have checked into A school, so their rules won't really apply.
Remind him that he's not had a drink in eight weeks or more, and it will hit him differently. Probably very hard. He hasn't been driving either, he will be rusty. He should ease back into old habits. Whatever he does, no drinking and driving, not one drop. There's a reason the Navy tells them to wait. Too many sailors die too soon, deaths on leave involving cars and booze. Sorry if I get a little rant and rave on the subject, I've seen it happen and it scares me.
Cheffiona - I'm so happy for your daughter and her husband - I'm sure it will be a special Christmas for them.
Merry Christmas, Ladies!
newhorizon, I am very happy for your son. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
newhorizon. You sailor will be able to have his cell phone, computer and civilian clothes sent to him. Although, he won't be able to wear his civilian clothes until he earns Phase 2 Liberty. This can take one to two months.
After your son's PIR ceremony, (while on Liberty) he can use his cell phone. However, he may not bring his cell phone with him back to boot camp. There are serious consequences if he does. He can't have his cell phone until he has moved into (A)school.
Your new Sailor will be told all the rules before PIR.
Can anyone tell me what my "Sailor to Be" will be able to be sent at A-School?
Hi All, My Son will be graduating Jan 7 and in A school in GL. I am very excited for his A- School. Merry Christmas to all
Thanks, BDM. I don't have any decorations up at all, except the ones Larry put up outside. We'll do a few gifts for close friends, but we're going to go on vacation after Christmas, just me and hubby. I did get in a couple great visits with my nephew when he was home on leave. He is headed for his boat, in Groton, waiting for transportation on to his sub.
JUST WANTED TO WISH EVERYONE A
MERRY CHRISTMAS
I HOPE YOU ALL GET TO SEE YOUR SAILORS AND IF NOT KNOW THAT WHEREEVER THEY ARE THEY WILL BE THINKING OF YOU AS YOU ARE OF THEM!
AND THANKS FOR ALL ADVICE AND HELP WHILE MY SAILOR WAS IN A SCHOOL! HER SHIP GOT BACK LAST WEEK AFTER HER FIRST DEPLOY SO HER AND HUBBY GET TO SPEND THEIR FIRST CHRISTMAS IN THEIR FIRST HOME AS HUSBAND AND WIFE
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL
... but personally, I'd stay in a motel one night and enjoy the "me time" transition from home. I'm weird like that.
