Sheri-
My guy leaves here on EARLY Sunday morning, and I'm already feeling the separation blues and I still have him home for 24 more hours.

Some of the ships, I don't know which ones, are housing the sailors who stayed behind. They shut down some of the ships so they don't have to heat and secure them all while few sailors are there. If someone is coming back from leave, they can't return early because of the temporary situation with other sailors. That, and not all the staff has checked in off their leave. At least, that is what I heard, can't vouch for the accuracy, but it sure makes sense.

On the Essex, Tyler said they were told they could report back after 7 AM on Jan. 3rd. He'll be flying in on Sunday.

Connie--
My guy just left to go to party with his old friends from the water polo team. He'll be back tomorrow. So tonight, its only me, the two cats and and the old dog. Fireworks are absolutely forbidden here, too ,many years without enough rain.

Debbie ... take him home? He already has overnight liberty privileges? I'm confused, but that's nothing new.

Just a thought... get a small flash drive or a larger external hard drive and copy all your pictures, etc to that. I do, for peace of mind. That way if my laptop dies or is stolen, I still have all my pictures saved elsewhere. It isn't terribly difficult to do, and I highly recommend it. The drives are coming down in price fast too.

Live ashore can only be approved once they reach phase two on their liberty, although thye can start to work on the packet during phase one. yes, it depends on the length of teh school.
