Hi everyone! I'm just checking in and catching up after being gone for two weeks.
I see we have added lots of new people to our extended Navy family here. WELCOME to all the new members!

Melanie - Yes, I got back home today about noon after a 5 hour drive up from SoCal. I am ready to crash tonight because the body is still on Georgia time. I was so glad to hear DJ classes up soon; I know that makes both of you relieved. I'll catch up with you real soon!

Will: I will be keeping Chris D. in my prayers for his duty in Iraq. God bless him and keep him safe.

Everyone HAGN!!

Go to www.tricare.com and find your region, there should be a menu to help you find providers in your area.

Nope, they don't cover glasses for dependents.

Glasses and Contacts
For active duty servicemembers, eyeglasses are available at military treatment facilities at no cost. All other TRICARE beneficiaries have contact lens or eyeglass coverage only for:
- Treatment of infantile glaucoma
- Treatment of keratoconus
- Scleral lenses to retain moisture when normal tearing is not present or is inadequate
- Corneal or scleral lenses used to reduce corneal irregularities (other than astigmatism)
- Loss of human lens function resulting from intraocular surgery, ocular injury, or congenital absence
- "Pinhole" glasses prescribed for use after surgery for detached retina

I'm on tricare as a retiree. Tricare pays for the eye exam, but nothing on frames or lenses. I don't know the active duty dependent benefits off the top of my head, but I do recall we paid for my glasses out of pocket.

JudyAnn, there is always the possibility they will have duty and cannot leave the base.

Melanie - Sorry to hear that DJ didn't get to start class as planned. I wonder why not? Hope you find out soon. I leave Georgia on August 11th. Don't know whether I will drive home on the 12th or stay for my daughter's birthday on the 14th in SoCal. In any event, I will be home around the 15th at the latest.

Will, sending you many hugs. Personally, I agree with Vee ... the Navy missed a good one. I give you gold stars for your attitude.

Hey Gary, does Nick know that he will have to do another 8 weeks of Marine boot plus special forces training for Riverines?

Hi all....again big hugs from Georgia.
Will - all I can say is that they passed up a GOOD MAN for CPO this year. YOU would have been a stellar performer, also. Like you said, in God's good time, you will make it...maybe another year as a LPO. We are all behind you 100%. You are very special to us.

I hope everyone is having a great Monday....

Kelly, I believe Victoria's BC ship name was on the form letter. She never used the name, only Ship 12.
