Dawn--
The letter numbering idea came from the October Bootcamp moms group, the picture idea also came fromt the same group, from a mom who had a child go to b/c before her October b/c kid.

1st Love--
Welcome to our group, and I completely agree with Dawn too. My son is stationed in Virginia. As a single parent, his going to b/c just about did me in, but I got through it. The best thing for me was his PIR, it was in December, man it was cold, but it was so good to see him that I didn't care about the temperature. He has been in for almost two years and has been deployed once.
The only thing I can add, is to start writing, but to number your letters on the envelope. My guy didn't get any mail for over 3 weeks, it helped him to read the letters in order. I also took pictures of his animals and printed them on regular paper, then I would write my letters on the other side, saving him locker space and giving him something to show his shipmates.
He calls me at least once a week now, sometimes 4 or 5 times, so just hang in there, go to Great Lakes for his PIR if you possibly can and be amazed at the transformation in your daughter.
