I want to invite you all to the newly started chapter of The Blue Star Moms in Merced County. We meet the second Thursday of the month at Gateway Church in Merced. Our next meeting will be Feb. 10th at 7 pm. There are many Marine moms so come and help me support the Navy.

Joan F. One of the moms in the San Fran group has a son who just joined his Marine unit in Afghan. You may want to get in touch with her. She lives in San Mateo county. Her son is also a Corpsman. I just sent him a Valentine's day card package. They need all the support they can get.

Dawnn FMTB is field medical training battalion, he is a Corpsman and it is training to be able to deploy with the Marines. He will be leaving tomorrow, will hate saying goodbye to him again. We hope to go to his graduation in March.

Katy & Bhappy - you can send a message to each member of this group by using the "Send Message to Group" feature. Only the creator of the group and any admin she appoints can do this unless Katy sets the "allow members to send message to group" feature.

Happy New Year everyone.

Hi Dawn--

I hope I can answer some of your questions.  We communicated mostly via ship email, you need to contact the ship Ombudsman and get on the mailing list and get a secured email address.  He called me about every 3 weeks on the ships phone, I understand the guys have to stand in line or make a reservation for a time to call home.  He deployed in May, so it was extremely warm where he was, and when I did get to talk with him, he was always EXTREMELY tired, because he had just finished his work day.  He did not have a girlfriend, and I don't think he does now.  I like you was a basket case when he left for BC, but as I said, I was at peace during deployment.  He had a big boat around him, and your son has even a bigger Ship/Boat around him.  I also had to remember, that he chose this job and I believe that it was the best decision he could have made.  I hope this information helps.
