Susank- You probably understand then why we asked where he was working.  saying you live in LA covers a HUGE area.  My sister lives there too. You could live in Pasadena or Anaheim. You could be in Long beach or Ontario!  It is at least an hour drive on a good day with no accidents.  Denver is similar just not anywhere as big and the traffic isn't anything like LA!!!  He'll be fine here.  The biggest thing he'll need to learn moving here is Dress in Layers and DRINK WATER!!!

yes... as "belovedbyhim" states.  DIA is in the middle of no where. But within the next year the light rail will be opening a route to the airport.  They are already test running it now. So... with than in mind.  If he wished to live downtown close to work.  As long as he is withing walking distance of 16th street (the 16th street mall we call it) There is a free bus that runs from Broadway to Union Station along that street, and then he could get to the airport that way.  There are a lot of new high rise apartments in the downtown area that are amazing venues to live in.  I lived in the "Golden Triangle" Which is South of 14th Street, West of Broadway and East of Speer.  Lots of lovely apartments, and about a 10 to 15 minute walk to 16th street.Prices tend to be higher in the Golden triangle, (Because its newer and the convenience of location to everything)  but there are also a lot of good choices along the edges of it (I would avoid the East side of Broadway)   When we lived downtown, parking was not an issue as we had a parking garage, and we literally walked everywhere we wanted to go except for the grocery store because we needed a vehicle to transport groceries. But for everyday things, there was a wonderful Market (Tonys) about 2 blocks from us, that we could walk to where we could get day to day things, we needed. 16th Street has just about anything you could need from, entertainment, restaurants, Clothing, drugstore....  and not far from it is the Denver Center for Performing arts with 5 performing arts stages with amazing shows, opera and ballet! We would get a taxi to the DCPA and after would rent a handsome cab to take us home.  Ah mannn I wanna live downtown again.

Oh and avoid Federal Heights!

So then If he likes the city life Downtown would be a good option.  It will depend on what type of life style he wants.  I'd suggest staying out of 5 points and Washington Park (Wash Park here) is pricey as is Cherry Creek.  He can take public transportation out to DIA.  (DIA is close to nothing but DIA but that is changing)  Stapleton- The site of the old airport has affordable newer housing and is closer to Downtown.  Parking in Downtown is ALWAYS an issue so he will want to keep that  in mind.  He might want to look into working with a Realtor to help him narrow down his search.

Thanks I deleted the address even though he is not in the Navy anymore and his work is not Navy related but it is still probably a good idea. Anyway he works downtown.

ops. hate to be wet blanket here, But maybe you should delete the post with your son's office address on it. My one son who is a spoke says these sights are monitored and not by the US.

Thank you so much ladies! I will ask him exactly where his new office will be. He is a consultant so he will be doing lots of traveling and needs access to DIA too! I really appreciate you both taking the time to get back to me. I will forward your answers to him! Xoxo

A lot of where to live depends on where in Denver he's going to be working.  Denver is a big city and covers a lot of ground.  Downtown is nice (LoDo has been undergoing a revival) but if he is working in the south end or out by the airport then LoDo or downtown won't make sense.  I live in Highlands Ranch and love it for it's low crime and excellent schools.  It has a ton of amenities included in the HOA.  It is a master planned community primarily of families and empty nesters.  There are some young singles but not many.  I'd stay away from Boulder unless he likes to party with college kids.  If we knew where he was working we can help more.

I currently live in SE Aurora.  A great place to raise a family.  Good schools and everything is pretty new.  But when our Sons grew up and moved away, we wanted to downsize.  We sold our house and for a couple of years we lived Downtown.  I really loved living downtown.  Great place to be single or a "married couple".   When the housing market dropped, we had to take advantage of the opportunity and bought a smaller house back in SE Aurora.  But if I were single....  I would live downtown again in a minute.
