Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Comment by JC19 on November 2, 2014 at 1:10pm: Yes BootnPanama that is exactly what happened, my son had a fellow DEP dropout and they offered my son his slot to leave. He said he did not want to but I worry that he will be told he has to go a week or two before they want him to leave.

I guess just hate the thought of him coming in saying I leave in a week even though I know at some point it will be a that close.

Comment by BootsnPanama on November 2, 2014 at 12:31pm: JC19 my son has been asked the same thing. I think that slots sometimes open up as others withdraw and those are offered to those waiting. Some do want to wait and others cannot wait to leave.

What are the chances they would make him? Anyone with an idea on that. It was for 2 months earlier than planned

Comment by MoMom15 on October 29, 2014 at 12:04pm: That is crazy and uncalled for! I don't consider myself a helicopter mom, but I would be in touch with whoever is in charge and make sure THAT gets cleared up. After all they want recruits, they don't want to scare them off! Thats just my 2cents

Comment by tytulip40 on October 29, 2014 at 11:47am: My son just got a strange call from his current recruiter that if he didn't do his 'face to face' today or tomorrow he would go to jail. He leaves for Basic on Dec 9th - his DEP meetings were cut back to once a month - this new recruiter has been real ugly and mean (which is fine) and hasn't communicated ANYTHING to my son and now throws this at him. Can he do this? My son is terrified right now - he has done everything they've asked of him. Floored right now.
