It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Anyone with Ship 13, Div 333 , I just got the info from the recruiter and she gave me the info before I got the letter.

Hi armymomnavyson, that was one of the problems I was speaking of. The recruiter did not change his Rank after the paperwork was submitted. Yes, please make sure he gets that done. It will make a big difference.

No Problem Nausetmom..

Thanks ladies, my son told me not to worry.  Really what Mom doesn't worry.

nausetMom. Perhaps your son is undesignated? My son has someone in his DEP group who is. My son has all the paperwork that Dorthea spoke of. I'm told that his contract is for his reserve time while in DEPS and will sign a new one before he ships out at the end of November. I hope that's the case because he is supposed to go in as an E3 with his college credits and his current contract says E1 but also says reserve. Definitely make a phone call at least to ask questions!!

Wonderful. What is his ship date and rate ?

Comment by NausetMom on July 14, 2013 at 1:34pm

Dorothea,  No we live about 6/7 hrs away from his recruiter, so I am not able to go.  I did go over your comments, so he would have something to think about as he drives to meet with the recruiter tomorrow.  I know he said that he carefully looked over every paper before he signed.  I hope he did not miss anything.

NausetMom, if you live close by , I would pop in the Recruiter's Station with your son . It is no different then buying a house or taking out a loan. There is a lot of paperwork and young people may not know what to look for. I was there when my son enlisted, it was sign here, here , here and here. Hold on a minute !!!!! He is going to read and ask questions first. He did !!!!! Thank goodness I was there for that ride. He is happy about where he is going, I am happy he is looking ahead and not just at tomorrow. 18 days and counting.

Thanks Dorethea, my son's seems to be  a little different than yours.  He has no page with test scores, or rate of Meps info, etc. I hope he is not missing something that is important.  I know he gets a packet of paper work handed to him the day he leaves.  He only enlisted the on the 18th of June and leaves the 12th of August.  I can only hope he asks his recruiter on Monday.

Oh no Cathy, I hope your son is doing well.

NausetMom, here is what I can tell you about my son's paperwork and it will be in order. 1st page is his rate.(job) 2nd page is his GETREC-In Dep . It has ALL of his personal info, his rate Meps info, Education and Test Scores.Medical,Waivers and Incentives. 3rd page is the Enlistment Guarantees. It has ALL important info on that page( time to be served and Rate) .4th page is Agreement to Extend Enlistment ( not everyone will have this). He has an extra form called The Request for Evaluation of Education Credentials and Foreign Education. Not all Depper's will have this form. Please go over your son/daughter's paperwork. Of course that is IF they let you : )
