Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Ali, we used to live in Yokosuka and you will have a wonderful time. What part of Japan is he in? If Tokyo is on your list, plan on staying a night or two at the New Sanno hotel, it is a military hotel in the heart of Tokyo but is like a five star property, pricing is based on pay grade. It's nice and has a great brunch there. The public transportation is fabulous for getting around. You may want to check out the MWRs website as they were great about discount tickets, tours, etc.
Carrie --- we will be dealing with our first deployment too. Emails, skype and an occassional phone call will help. Lots of sailors use facebook to stay in touch and then we have our...mom friends!

Hi ladies. I hope it's okay if I join you. My husband just cheked in last week to his third pre-commission ship. We moved to Virginia from Hawaii where my husband was stationed at Afloat Training Group.

Our CO is wonderful with communications when they are deployed.
K-Illinois, I think it depends on their ship and barrack availabilities. I believe intially they have to stay on the ship until they do some of their qualifications. I do know some E4s in Norfolk that live in the barracks but other E4s (on different ships) seem to be waiting for an opening in Norfolk.
Our son was able to move into the barrack rather quickly when he reported to HI but his ship was in the yards. They can only stay in the barracks until they made E5.

Quiet in here lately. Perhaps all of our destroyers are in their homeports and not much is happening?? Yeah right. Perhaps they are all real busy have no time to communicate...hmmmm what are our sailors up to?!!!
