While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

K-Illinois, our son is stationed at Norfolk, and lives on ship, but is hoping to get housing when they pull back in later this year. Living on ship definitely takes some getting used to. There isn't much room for your stuff, and you know who snores and who has smelly feet! There are some videos somewhere on Navy Life that show the living conditions. Don't know if that helps much. Enjoy your visit with your sailor when he is home!

Mary, they do. They kind of go in and out there, and have been on shore a couple of times. My sailor says it is beautiful.

Kathleen, we are trying to get a handle on their schedule so we can plan our trip to Pearl Harbor, Nick's advice...be flexible! He's been in the Navy too long! lol

Ship honors Navy hero: Christening today for destroyer named for late Vice. Adm. William Lawrence

Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Wendy B. Lawrence, left, and Dr. Laurie Macpherson Lawrence, right, are in Pascagoula this week for the christening of a ship that is named for their¤father, William P. Lawrence, a famed naval leader and prisoner of war. The sisters are sponsoring the ship, along with his wife Diane Wilcox Lawrence.
PASCAGOULA, Miss. -- Family and friends of the late Vice Adm. William Porter Lawrence, a famed Navy leader and prisoner of war, are in town today to christen an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer named in his honor.
The DDG 110, under construction at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding's Pascagoula yard, is sponsored by Lawrence's wife, Diane Wilcox Lawrence, and daughters Laurie Macpherson Lawrence and Wendy B. Lawrence.
Former presidential candidate H. Ross Perot, who was close friends with the ship's namesake, is the featured speaker.
