For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Mary, Proud Mom of Nick on November 2, 2012 at 2:46pm: Tiger cruises are great experiences to see your sailor and shipmates at work. They generally will last a few days, for ships in San Diego --- generally you will meet the ship in Hawaii and ride back to CA. But you must have a sponsor on the ship and males cannot sponsor females but they can ask a female shipmate to be your sponsor :-). You must also be medically healthy to do a tiger cruise.

Homecomings are great experiences - nothing like welcoming home a ship after a long deployment. Lots of hugs kisses and fanfare!

Comment by Susan mom to Niko on October 11, 2012 at 12:40pm: I would absolutely encourage you to be on the pier when that ship pulls in after deployment!! I told my son that he wouldn't have trouble picking out his crazy family!!

My son, sister, brother in law, sailors best friend and his wife and his mom were all there... I had a bag with cow bells to ring and whistles to blow... along with a big banner!

The ships FRG (family readiness group) had organized a nice group of booths at the park while we waited for the ship to get near... the booths had coloring pages for the kids, flowers to give your sailors, a chance to make signs to wave, snacks and water.... and they had a small navy band to entertain everyone.

Once they are off the boat, be sure to ask your sailor if they have a buddy who has no family there... take them along with you to lunch- dinner when they arrive home... I can assure you will hear many more stories about the deployement with a buddy along!!
