For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

So if I have to pick just one... I guess one of my favorites is sending pinatas! Good for steel beach picnic or any day of fun! I tend to stuff them full of candy, silly mustaches, stretchy hands, blow up punching balls, glider planes, playing cards, etc.

I also like to send a themed boxes... makes it more fun for me to pack... so sometimes everything is blue or green or red... or holiday themed.

Comment by Susan mom to Niko on April 13, 2012 at 1:06pm: Ahhh mombychoice... Just met and hugged a couple of sailors from the Ford last week... they were on the pier to help with security and tearing down the tents, etc after the USS Ingraham pulled in from deployment!

Does anyone have sailor on the USS Robert G Bradley (Mayport) or the USS Ford (Everitt, WA). Just trying to make some connections with families who have sailor on these 2 ships. Thanks.

Comment by Annie on March 7, 2012 at 5:54pm: indyrules - I hope our sons will meet! I am hoping to be able to do a Tiger Cruise on their next deploy. I did one on the Reagon and it was a great experience. I am glad that he is on this ship, and look forward to seeing it in person.

Comment by Susan mom to Niko on March 7, 2012 at 12:19am: Hey moms... plan a trip out to Seattle in August (or other port cities during their navy weeks) and you can tour the navy ships as part of their city celebration. Ours is called Seafair. of course those of us fortunate enough to have kids stationed on ships can 'twist' their arms when we visit them and they can give us great tours also!!
