For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Just returned from Hawaii to see my son's ship's homecoming. Very awesome and emotional. What I did notice is that the airlines are going out of their way to accomodate the military......e.g. recognizing them, letting them on and off first, and did you know that your sailor can be upgraded to first class for free if they have room. They just have to ask! I will add a picture if I can of homecoming. It was very cool to hear all the whistles blowing "welcome" to the USS Chung-Hoon when it came into port.

Comment by KatK on October 20, 2010 at 11:18am: The airline will give her a year to use the ticket but (there is always a but) they will charge her the difference in price if there is one. She might be able to call the airline and tell them what happened and they might waive the price difference. I would call ASAP so it is all in the computer. The airlines are usually pretty good with the military.

The ships website is the best place to be, look for info on the ships ombudsman contact her or him and ask to be put on the family mailing list and for a user name and password if there is a password protected family area of the website. Every ships ombudsman varies, my sons ship has an incredible one who sends out info every week and if I e-mail her a question she responds the same day even if she does not have the answer she lets me know she is looking into it (We are so lucky to have her!)
E-mail varies on the comanders orders but the key is that he needs to be agressive and ask for his computer id and password. IT is so busy some times they don't get to everyone. I find many sailors I know use Facebook when they can not call so you might want to ask your son about that. Take care, Paula

Your son should be able to ask and get some information once he is aboard his ship about the approximate return date. My son was stationed on a ship not a base so he was in and out of port prior to deployment, I assume this was getting ready for the mission.
