Good Afternoon ladies! I prayed for a website like this. I am a new bootcamp mom. It's been pretty rough on me. I miss my son so much. But, it so nice and comforting to see other mom's comments. I don't feel so alone. My son applied for Corpsman also Marcy. I am praying that everything goes well with his training. Beautiful profession; helping your Navy BROTHERS in need! I am very proud of him and all of our son/daughters..God bless them where they are. Joan/Maricopa,AZ

lLet me know if something gets planned. I'm game. i am going to Tampa, FL tomorrow morning (7:15 AM flight). I start my new job by training for 3 days there, then come back to Phoenix on Thursday. I'm going to be handling the same national account for claims, but just with a new company. Got a nice raise too! Much better than if I had stayed with the old.

Summer can be hard to plan get-togethers since everyone's vacationing, but I'm also up for spontaneous too!

We stayed at the Drake in Chicago, sort of splurged but worth it ;) My son had done Battlestations right before grad, so he took a long hot bath and crashed! We kept it low-key, just did what he wanted (including room service) and stayed right around the Michigan Ave area, just beautiful. I've only been to Chicago a few times so I'm not the expert. For A school grad I stayed at a Candlewood Suites by GL, nice, had a kitchenette too.

are there any get-togethers planner for the near future?

I would love to be able to see another PIR; lucky you! Are you staying in GL?

Oh course, weather is also important! Our PIR was in October and unseasonably warm (a runner died in the Chicago marathon that weekend). Then A school graduation was in February - brrr! Hopefully you'll have gorgeous spring weather.
Wish I could figure out our own weather; the wind is rocking my house and I'm going to have a lot of leaves to skim from my pool!

I disagree. I don't think dressier is better. You have to remember that business casual in the West is a lot different than the East. You need to be comfortable. Sitting in bleachers with dress clothing for several hours is not comfortable. You don't know when you go in where your sailor is going to be as there is no indication where each group is going to be standing. I'm not saying be "sloppy" but you really need to dress for comfort, not show.
