Brendans parents, we were in a very similar situation that you are in right now, I can tell you we were still on the lists and so was our SR even though he did not graduate and we checked in at the the tables and sat and watched the graduation and you should go and watch if even if your SR does not graduate, it is an awesome sight! In the same area as the the museum is the PAO desk and they are the ones you have to talk to, to find out the status of your SR.

navymom3, not sure if I like that one. We would like to at least congratulate the others and maybe spend some time with sailors who did not have family able to attend to show our admiration for their choice in service. Even take some of them out for a pizza. You can't go to Chicago and not get a Chicago style pizza.

Brendans parents- You will be able to get in the gate of the base. But when you go inside the building and get to the checkin table his name will not be on the list. They will direct you to an office where they will look up his name and see if he has passed or not. If he has not they will not let you in all the way. But you can look around the museum if you want. It is very cool. So even if you don't get a call I would go there and check as you never know. We didn't get out call until like 4 or 5 pm on thurs night that he passed.

Once you are on that list it stays there, you are good!

I have a question for parents of past FIT graduates. Our sons scheduled PIR is this Friday and he put us on his list weeks ago. We learned last week he failed his run but we know he has several chances to complete it and still do BS before the 26th. My question is if he does not pass in time will his name be taken off the list? Meaning, we are still planning on flying in on Thursday and still want to go to the PIR even if he is not there (but our fingers are still crossed), Will we be stopped at the gate and turned away if he is not graduating on time?

Hi diannep!  My Sailor is in Pensacola now (we're going to see him over Labor Day).  His days in RCU and Fit did him none the worse for the wear!  I'm still pushing my daughter (broke both leg bones in softball last spring) with her rehab.  I wish I had a Navy motivator for her!!!  lol

My Sailor had the same problem, he missed his PIR, but he passed the following week, he wasn't too worried missing the PIR, he just wanted out of boot..lol..

Thanks. They say faith can move mountains but all we really hope it can do now as get our recruit to run a little faster. We know he is motivated, he just needs to get his body to follow his lead.
