For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I love all of the activity that is in this group now! I hope you are all doing well and hanging in there. I was able to visit my son in GL at A-School 11/16-11/17 and we went to the Bears Game on Sunday that was evacuated because of the Tornado Warnings. Crazy! So we were not able to stay for the whole game together but we had a wonderful "weekend" with him just hanging out in Chicago. I am enjoying all of the time I can. Thanksgiving will be hard and I just don't want him to be alone... We will get to see him for Christmas though so we have a lot to look forward to. Love the mom hugs!! :)

I love the mom hugs idea too! we may have some 'adoptees' for thanksgiving as my daughter is only a few hours from home (a blessing i know)

Ruth- I have always wanted to visit Scotland (sigh). Seems you are packing up just in time for the cold. Is Texas permanent or just for the winter?

Lorraine- she graduated about a year ago and is now in SD. HI was her first choice (like everyone!!) but now she is only a couple hours from home so we get to actually SEE her every few weeks!
regarding BC, my girl said being in shape (running some everyday,push ups, situps) before she went to BC really helped. So many had to spend the first few days getting up to speed (literally) that it can be actually painful. So if your son can get on a running routine in these next few weeks, it might help him sail through the physical challenges!

Hi Lorraine-my daughter said that one of the perks for keeping their grades up in A-school is being able to get a choice for station (if its available). Highest GPA gets first choice, then down the line. Also, they have to earn off base privileges such as not wearing a uniform, curfew time or how many go together. be sure to check out the bootcamp for moms group. they were really helpful with all the stuff that goes on in BC.

Hi Lorraine! I can't answer any questions for you but just wanted to say hi and nice to meet you. My son leaves for BC in 6 mo. then off to GM A School. This is a nice friendly group. I'm sure you will like it here and get all your questions answered along with alot of positive encouragement. Again, nice to meet you!

Hello - Like so many who have posted I'm new to all of this. My son will leave for basic training in January and then stay on for GM A school. I'm getting nervous since it's only a couple of months away. When he first signed up it was six months ago, now it's coming fast. I'm also excited because I know this will be good for him. But I would love hear from other's who have gone before me so to speak. I've been reading posts etc on this site and it seems like such a good place for support and information. I would love to know when he'll find out what happens after A school. No idea. Any info would be nice.
