I thought it would be great to get a group together of people who have a Gunners Mate in training or one on duty. I hope we can all give each other a little insight as to what is in store for our Navy Men and Women!!

It took my grandson about 6 hrs to get his things moved across the street to A-school and get processed in.  He did not get to spend the nights with us because about that time those rules changed.  We could pick him up early in the morning and take him back at night.  Someone has to sign them in and out and above all DO NOT LET THEM GET BACK TO THE BASE LATE-they will have hell to pay.  The traffic gets pretty heavy around the time they are all supposed to be on the base so be sure to allow some extra time.

DangerQueensmom - Unfortunately, won't arrive until after the meet & greet, :(

I like the idea of going back to the hotel and the museum.  That may be the ideal place to meet them.  My son phoned today & made sure to tell me, no photos at the gate.

Glad you got your call wenikimic.  Only 2 more days :)

Hi girls!  I believe flexibility is the key here when it comes to "after PIR".  I just got the "I am a Sailor" call (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) from my son and he has already warned me that it will be at least a few hours for them to process out of BC and into A school and to be patient.  That being said, maybe a long lunch or trip back to the hotel may be in order - just to keep busy! :) I like the idea of a trip to the museum too!  Thanks MOM C!

Genbrit-Ship - are you not attending the Meet and Greet on Thursday?  To answer your question about what we'll do while waiting for them after PIR - I have no clue right now, don't even know how much time that will take.  Just trying to be extremely flexible and open to anything.

Thanks for sharing Freier4!  My SR would love to be stationed in San Diego as well, because we live in SoCal, but his girlfriend is here too and that's a big draw!! :)  I'd love for him to score high and have the choice to go anywhere he desires.  This is really a chance of a lifetime!  I look forward to meeting you Danger Queen's Mom at PIR.  Will you be attending the Meet & Greet thursday night?

My daughter is a GM and will also graduate BC on 9/23 - and of course will be going to A school at Great Lakes.  We are very excited for her and looking forward to PIR!
