A leg of my son's trip back to Providence was canceled out of O'Hare, and the flight he is winding up on won't get in until after 11 tonight. Does anyone know if the shuttle back to Groton is still running then, and what alternatives might be available? Any idea what a taxi will run for that trip? - thanks!

Patricia B the reason he has to be back on the 29th is the other sailors have leave from the 27th til Jan 5th. My son is in the 2nd group for leave. My son told me that the first group is from the 19th til the 27th. So your son has two extra days.

Have you heard about the "Blue Candle Lighting" being scheduled on Christmas Day? It is a way to honor those Sailors that will not be home for Christmas. What a nice tribute to our Sailors!

Please go to Events and click on Blue Candle Lighting, we are tracking how many candles will be lit in our Sailors' honor and where you are located.

Let's do this in our "Navy for Moms" style - can we get 9000 plus candles lit on Christmas Day?!!

Hooray! Thanks for the feedback, I just heard from Zach and got travel arrangements worked out. $510 roundtrip Providence to Seattle - not bad considering less than a week's advance purchase for 12/19 and 12/26, I suppose. 11.5 hours for the return trip - yikes! He's diggin' Groton though, and sounds like things are going real well.

My son Zach PIR'd 12/5, and reported to Groton this week for SECF, but hasn't contacted us yet with leave dates. Has anyone whose son reported this week heard from them regarding leave dates?
