Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Update June,July,August Groups
1. June and early July will see us finishing up the Ft Hood unit which is army. Done
We are planning to next work on the units of some of our children:
2. Donna's daughter is deployed on the Truman and is in a squadron of 248: 203 males and 45 females Our target mailing date is 8-14 to 8-17.
3. August will bring us Cheryl's son, who is on this ship as well. We don't have information on his unit as yet. We have a new member whose son is also on this ship. We'll check that unit out also. Not doing this group after all.
4. Missouri National Guard. This is their 4th deployment I believe. There are 430 and Michele will be heading this one up. She is hoping to get 300 from her MO contacts and HAE wil do the remaining 130. I think a July date is planned for mailing.
I need to stress one thing here. We are not going to do or try to do any one ship. Especially an aircraft carrier because they are just too big.
The 830 Ft Hood unit is manageable because the contact wanted us to break the mailings down. But I don't think we as a group want to take on huge projects that create a small time frame and so much pressure.
So this is just a "heads up" of future projects. Then we can tackle the Lincoln units. Anyone else with deployed children, let us know in this thread.

I am still going to try to do my son's squadron by myself, BUT he did inform me the other day that he thought there were about 175 and some women but didn't know specifics. OMG it has went from 100 to 175 in a blink of an eye. When it gets closer to time to send I may ask for help but I still have a lot of time left. I may not be able to help much on the other groups though :(

Hi All- my son is on the Truman as well. A nuc. I sent him an email asking how many are in his unit. I did not tell him why I wanted to know....I will let him squirm a little! I am a sewer and have made pillow cases before for other projects so I have that down. I will need to comb the site to figure out how you all gather and send. Thank you to all of you for what you are doing for our military sons and daughters!

I have 25 females. I won't be doing any sewing during the month of June. I'll be either in Va Beach helping my son paint and get his townhouse ready to rent or in the hospital for proceedures and tests. So the sewing won't get done until July. My youngest will be home for a week in July but he will spend most of his time visiting his friends. -

What we will do for each unit, is have the mom be the coordinator. Proud, that mom will set a time frame for mailing-usually a week and then keeps track of who will send how many. We will mail direct to the contact, cause it saves postage overall.
glad that you have pc making down. that helps alot! We all help each other's units and then we get units that come to me or someone else and we all work on them as we can.
If you check out the USS NY, the Ft Hood units, Seabees etc you'll see how it all goes.
Lyn, no fun on tests, but they are a necessary part of life. be careful with the painting. do you wear a mask. Good to know about the females. I have about 60 or something like that. -lots haha.
Kim, we stand ready to chip in on your son's squadron! That is a big jump! -

LOL! If every female on the ship found out about it, they'd be jumping line for one! ;-) There are 45 in her squadron so maybe we can "steal" a few of already made ones for Steph's but believe me, there are a lot of women on these ships from what Steph tells me!

45 is a good number, so we'll start there. they are probably all in the same berthing,. the airwings stay together at least they did on the Lincoln.
hey don't you ask her that question Donna. and if they are, the find out how many more are in the berthing.
And ladies, I am just thinking out loud. haha and that can be dangerous. -

Sue, the airwing stays together on the George Washington as well. According to my granddaughter, supposedly they have their own common area as well. I had not realized that the airwing is not a part of the ship crew although it does make sense.
I will be around until late July and then we are off to Virginia for a couple weeks. -
