Information

DEP-Leavin' for bootcamp in June

This group is for N4M members that have a loved one leaving for bootcamp in June...I will leave the year open so that even future Deppers leaving in the month of June of any year can join...Lets share stories, information, concerns, and questions

Website: http://www.navyformoms.com/group/deppersinbutnotyet

Latest Activity: Jun 12

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Cody's mom, How did you get the address so fast?

I have a question I need a answer to. My son leaves June 15 we are selling his car and canceling his insurance. We live in NC and I have been told that if he has his address still here the insurance co will add him to my policy. What did everyone else do about this.

My son left June 8th...It was the hardest thing I have ever done. We did get his address today- I wasn't expecting to have it so soon. I rushed a letter out first thing. I too cry at random times. I think it just keeps hitting me that our home is forever changed...Cody is such a big personality in our home, and the realization that he will most likely never be home to live kills me.

Anyone else have a son or daughter leave on the 8th?

I'm new to this site and thought I would join before I leave. I ship next Tuesday, June 16 and I am thrilled! I am going to have my mom set up an account here so she can stay in touch with other moms. She's not as anxious as some of you might be--I am 25 and have lived away from home many times already but she is excited about coming to PIR in August. Good luck to all your future sailors!

hdhart: The tears will come and go....often at odd times. But we all did that, or are doing that. It is normal. These are our "babies." Stay on the N4M site as often as you need to. Espeically the boot camp site. There are always ladies around to help you. We are here for each other! Aren't you just so proud of your son and this new venture? Please post on the boot camp site and let all know how you are doing and when you hear from your son, ok?

My son Jarred left Sunday and I got his arrival phone call late last night. It really hit home at that point that he was gone and about to start a new chapter of his life. He too sounded tired and nervous. My tears have caught me off guard a few times, but it helps to read that others are dealing with the same issues.

I just got my "call" from Steven. He sounded so scared - maybe a bit tired too since he said he only slept 4 hours last night. Of course, it brought me to tears. Only for a moment mostly because my butthead husband (Steve's stepdad) said "you know it is going to be hard". So I chose to ignore him and turn to you all. Thank God I have stocked up on kleenex. LOL I have watched the video on youtube to see what was going to happen so knew it would be like this. Plus you had all forwarded me. I just have to take it in strides and let the tears come when they feel like it. I am now turning my self to the PIR countdown (and praying that nothing causes a set back). I look forward to seeing my stronger, new son soon.

To all those that have yet to send their recruit on.....I wish you all the best. I know that a postive attitude will help at home will help. So to you of you I salute!
