Latest Activity: Jun 12

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

tasmyn44: Oh no....get that Vit E oil going...morning noon and night! Which ones are the worst? The hand or the cut knee? All you can do isthe best you can and wait and see, like you said. He's got a little over 2 weeks which seems like a good amount of time for those wounds to heal. Let's hope!

Awesome Mom: I agree with TJ's Mom. I know it sounds cliche but there is a reason, and I have no doubt that your son will get there and do great. This all is probably just getting his "fight" up even more than it was, and that is what a SEAL needs. I hope that you join/start a DEP Leavin' in August group and get psyched again. Tell your son that we believe in him and are praying for him...please keep posting and let everyone know how you are doing. That is wonderful that the regional chief called you and placed blame where it was deserved. I hope that he is taking personal responsibility now to make sure your son gets going. We'll keep hoping that a slot opens up before August. I have seen moms post where that has happened to their sons. So you never know. Good luck.

Awsome's Mom, I am so glad he is positive. I know this has been very emotional, but I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. You may not see it now but you will later.

Keke's Mom & Jaz04, My heart is hurting already my son ships out in 7 days. You both with be in my prayers.

I thank you all for you're good wishes. We rcd. a call from a regional chief petty officer, in charge of all recruiting stations in central and south florida. He was the first individual that was sincere and placed blame where it was due. Needless to say, that changed nothing.
Awesome has his clearance, however, his slot has been filled. He is now set to ship in August sometime.
He is still very positive about his choice for SEAL's, and is going to work that much harder untill August.
I wish you all well, with the departure of you're "kids" and pray for each and every one of their success.

Well my heart was ripped from my body today, had to say goodbye to my son. His recruiter told me he would have an address for me in a week. The house is so empty now, going to take time to get used to this. Now counting the days until we go to graduation. I can't imagine the emotional roller coaster you must be going through Awsome's Mom. How can they do that to the family? Saying goodbye once is hard enough but to have to do it over and over again is cruel. Good luck, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

ok moms, I did it. I cried, actually teared up several times. Thank God for sun glasses. But Steven made me promise not to cry. So the last time it happened I told him I had to leave because I couldn't hold them back anymore. The day was great as we drove to his grandma's to do the goodbye and then his grandpa's for the same. Then it was just us time for the hour ride - a really good feeling. So when it came time for his briefing, he told me I didn't have to leave, I could wait til they were done. Funny - because he acted so strong otherwise. It was like the first day of kindergarden. LOL I had to remind him that I still had to drive an hour and still be able to get for work tomorrow. Kids I tell ya. I made it down the road 5 minutes before I had to pull over to blow my nose. Then I was fine. I am glad he had his cell phone tonight as we just got done texting for the past hour. I have taken in all you ladies have written to me and I know he will be ok. Just the separation anxiety moments. I think I did ok. But tomorrow is another day.

Awsome's Mom, I hope that your son and family can get an answer soon. Hopefully he can get some kind of job until then. Can he fall back on to your health insurance at all? I will keep you in my prayers that something positive happens soon.

Awsome's Mom, I am with you. You can mess with me but not my kids. That is crazy. TJ was told September 9 and then a slot came open for May 10. Then that one was taken and now it is June15. He talked to this recruiter today and he said everything is still set. I just can't believe this is happening to you. Try and keep positive for him. I am sure it is hard.

Oh my gosh, Awesome's Mom. I can't believe it. I am so sorry...what a rollercoaster you all are on. Wish I could help, but I have no clue. Don't give up!

Well, here we go again. Once agin, Austin spent the night at the hotel, MEPS in the morning, and .... Security paperwork still not complete, somewhere, on the "floor".
My patience is no longer available. Mess with me, all you want, but DON'T mess with my kid ! This is just entirely rediculous. He has left his job ( position already filled) cancelled both gym memberships, cancelled medical insurance and auto insurance, all in due process because he was to ship out on 6/3.
Now we've been told may have to wait till August for a slot to open up. ! ! ! Anyone else have anything like this happen ?

Looks like lots of action in this group now....good luck to all of the families saying goodbye to their children as they begin this journey....be proud, strong, and know that this is a GOOD THING. Nothing in my son's life has changed him (in good ways) like the Navy has so far. Send them off with a little cash in their wallet, debit card, cell phone (as long as they know it will be returned in the box), and lots of hugs and praise! See you all on the boot camp site.
