Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Thanks Denise - at least we are in the same boat/ship! We are going away this weekend too - leaving tomorrow at noon. I'm so nervous I'm going to miss it and not be able to send letters out until Monday. Hopefully, it will come tomorrow before we leave.

OK, I'm getting really frustrated. My daughter left for BC on 3/3 and still no official letter with group/div and address info. I called the recruiter today, but she was DEP for 1 year and had 3 different recruiters. Needless to say, he told me that he did not have the information yet and to call back if I don't get it by Monday. UGH! Is there anyone else that has not gotten information yet?

As I get ready to say goodby to my daughter Sara on Monday 3/15 for BC, I'm sitting her thinking how short my call list is getting. I call my daughters everyday, I'v already had to stop myself from calling Mary my other daughter she left for BC on 2/24/10. This is very stressful, I know it's all part of the experience. But I didn't think it would be so hard.

I just got The Box back with all of his stuff.. That was the hardest thing so far.. but I did good! I didn't cry.. My son would have went ballistic if I cried when I showed him daddy's things..

Hello :)
My husband is a nuke, heading to boot camp March 16. The last couple of weeks have been pretty busy preparing for him to leave (his ship date moved up, he was originally scheduled to leave July 7). We have a 1 year old daughter and will be moving to Charleston after PIR.

That is cool! I hope that they are in the same division. I remember my husband saying he was jealous of his roomie because he was going out to dinner with his girlfriend because she got a room in the motel next to them.

Ben's mom- I have kind of been through that.. My husband joined May of last year as an SCEF but then he took the Nuke test and got that.. and they moved him to March this year.. We were so prepared and then they slammed that on us.. but I didn't mind. A friend just got his ship date moved because he got a parking ticket and his paperwork is now a mess.. Jump for joy and spend as much time as you can with him.

Tara- I am not quite sure how I got two calls.. All I know is I got the 5 second I am here call from his cell and the next day he called me from an odd number saying they gave him a 5 minute call. We talked normally no script.. He said he is in temporary housing for now but he is on laundry duty and night watch.. I am guessing he did good or something? He had no negative news to share... or at least none that he told me. He did leave from San Diego on the 6:30 am flight he said there was 3 flights out that day. He was the Group Leader and got to hold everyone's paperwork. It would be cool if they met! I hope that he makes some friends he is a bit of a shy southern boy.

Hi everyone! I have to say that I am much better today than in days past (we'll see what tomorrow brings - I know this is a roller coaster of a ride for me and most of us). I received the "kid in the box" today (daughter left for bc on 3/3). I was so nervous about the "box" and how I would handle the opening of the box, but I have to tell you that I actually was OK and I believe it is because of all the feedback from this group and the boot camp group that I handled it much better expected. It does look like they stand your child in the box and have them remove all their clothing and then stuff all other items on the sides. I have my daughters jacket hanging on the kitchen chair where I can see it every day. I miss her so much! I have been writing her everyday and await the address in the mail. Prayers are good too - lord, I don't think I've ever prayed so much in my life. This is a good thing as I know that God is watching over my daughter.

LeeMom - we have all been in your shoes and our tears could probably fill an ocean. You will get so much support here - just come here anytime and vent. There will always be someone that understands and it is so comforting to know that you are not alone. The call will come sometime tonight and it will be very short and almost rehearsed - be positive and upbeat. Be sure to tell him how proud you are and how much you love him - don't let him know how hard this is for you. Cry later - after the call. And, yes, it is ok to cry. It will get better and he will make great friends at bc too!

Lady Zurk - there will be so many more hugs coming your way soon from a U.S. Sailor!!! Sounds so cool, doesn't it????

Thank you all so much for your support and just simply for being here!
