Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of October (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have October ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in October, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

hollyP - so glad you got a call!!!  WInhawk - that's awesome!!! We can't go to GL for Thanksgiving - we already had made plans months ago to spend Thanksgiving with our daughter and son-in-law that lives in NJ.  Son-in-law is in the AF.  But I have already made my trip plans for PIR in Dec!  Can't wait!!

We got the form today for Adopt a Sailor and we decided we will go to RTC and spend Thanksgiving with our son. We will also go the following weekend for PIR. We decided this will be our holiday gifts for each other this year (the extra trip). In his letter today he sounded so happy and he said his 3 RDC's are cool as long as you do what you're suppose to do. He said the food is amazing and this is from a kid who lived on pizza and wouldn't touch fruits or veggies. He passed his swimming test - Yay! He said when we meet him for Thanksgiving his buddy will be with him for Adopt a Sailor so we will be treating another SR to dinner who can't be with his family. He said the hardest thing for him was making his rack correctly. After 2 hours of the RDC stripping his rack he finally got the hang of it. LOL My husband said if that is the worst thing so far he will be fine. Don't understand the making the bed thing - one rule in our house is beds got made every day. Although bed (rack) making in the Navy is much different.

Oh wow, that sounds stressful!  I did find out that he called his girlfriend from the airport in Chicago but his phone died just as he connected so he didn't call anyone else.  So far I don't think anyone has heard from him again.

I'm trying to focus on this gift and hoping nothing happens to prevent him from getting the visit on Thanksgiving.

TJ's Mom - That is wonderful about you being so close for Thanksgiving!

I didn't get a call from RTC either...he did call from the airport twice and told me it was his last call...I said, "Are you sure...you're supposed to be able to call from base" "Yes, I'm sure." "Love you" " Love you too...gotta go". click.

BUT he got to call me on Sunday...missed it...left  a message...then again Tuesday...got that one! He said he was told he had to contact a "real" person! Now...that was his RDC...doesn't always happen...but I can pray that it does for you!

He called again Thursday for security info. Three calls in one week...by this time I was getting a bit stressed out as I kept trying to go into "no news is good news mode"! LOL 'Course in a couple of weeks...I wanted a call when everyone was getting them! (My Sailor PIR'd back in May)

Oh Wow, I'm so excited, my son should be in the PIR group for 12/16 and so should be eligible for the adopt a sailor program for Thanksgiving, I will be near enough to go and pick him up!  Hoooray.  Now just gotta wait for the form!

It will probably go to my ex's house, but just talked to him on the phone and he said he'd get it right to me.  Oh I'm so happy!  Makes not hearing from him last night when he arrived much better !  Thank you so much everyone for all the great info on this site.  :)

Repost.

I have one mom interested but will take a few more just in case. Some of you have said you would like to join the group...please make sure you indicate that you are interested in forming the group if that is the case.

Hello!

We will be looking for the mom/wife/GF etc. who will be interested in creating the 12/16/2011 IPIR group.

Probably someone who's recruit is arriving at RTC between 10/23 – 10/27 to be on the safe side. So ladies, if it is something you think you'd be interested in...Friend me and send me a message.

Please remember that when I post dates of when your SR may PIR...it is not exact. I am basing it on the earliest reports and making an "educated" guess on the cutoff date for a TG. BC can be anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks. Your recruiter may have your recruit’s ship/division as early as 72 hours after arriving at BC. I will take this ship/div # for the purpose of starting a PIR group BUT please wait for the form letter that your recruit will send home to address your mail and send it. The address your recruiter gets oftentimes is incomplete or has too much information that is not necessary for the address.

We will probably form the group more near the end of next week…thank you for your patience.

Thanks everyone! My daughter went in last February and I haven't been on here much since April. So I'm a little rusty on what to do. But I'm sure it'll all come back pretty quick :)
