Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of October (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have October ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in October, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hello Everyone!

I am in the process of starting the 11/23/2011 PIR group.(Note: this will be a Wednesday PIR because of Thanksgiving) I will be working on it this weekend. Should be up and running the beginning of next week.

If this has been something you have been thinking about I am asking you to hold off so we don't have duplicate groups. I have a mom as of right now but will still take a friend request (I'll ALWAYS look at those anytime!) with a private message from anyone interested and just put you in line!

Please be patient ladies...stay on here and keep reporting in with your Ship/Div numbers and PIR dates! Thank you for your help!

Hello!

We will be looking for the mom/wife/GF etc. who will be interested in creating the 11/23/2011 PIR group. Note: This PIR group will be on Wednesday because of Thanksgiving.

Probably someone who's recruit is arriving between 09/29 – 10/04 to RTC to be on the safe side. So ladies if it is something you think you'd be interested in...Friend me and send me a message.

Please remember that when I post dates of when your SR may PIR...it is not exact. I am basing it on the earliest reports and making an "educated" guess on the cutoff date for a TG. BC can be anywhere from 7.5 to 9 weeks. Your recruiter may have your recruit’s ship/division as early as 72 hours after arriving at BC.

However, we like to try to get the PIR groups going so if you DO know the date (got your form letter already, some of you get it real early...lucky dogs!) I really hope you consider starting the next one!

Thank You!

We will hold off until Monday of next week, (possibly Tuesday unless we get an actual confirmation of your recruits PIR date early on!) but you may friend and PM me in the meantime to ask questions and get details before you commit.

Just planting seeds ladies!

JessicaB, My son filled out the form with his 1st (Japan), 2nd (Greece), and 3rd (Hawaii) choice. But they will send him where they need him. He changed from four to six year and at that point he gave up really any choice. But with his grades who knows...

Sicily...Wow! Is he just loving it there?

JessicaB is so right... Send a letter everyday to BC. Your rct will get it at some point. Also, number the letters so your rct will know which to open first. Run, run, run in boots AND go to the pool one to two times a week. You will need to know how to swim. It just amazed my sailor that rcts would arrive not knowing how to swim. "Mom, it's the Navy". The other comment my sailor had was "Mom, they must not have gone out for high school sports". He could tell the ones that weren't ready for BC...

Jessica, My son is doing great. Still in SD, in maint.school. With his last class in Jan or Feb. he will be done and hopeful on to a ship. STG has been hard but wonderful. He got in with a group that studied together and worked hard to make good grades. 2nd in his class...twice. He wanted top but I'm still proud of him. Hope all is well with you and your sailor. And yes you always had the best advice and information. Thanks!

Phoebe, I can't believe it's been a year.  My son left for Great Lakes on 10-4-10, and he's scheduled to graduate from nuke power school in Charleston on 10-7-11.  The year has flown, hasn't it.

Oh JessicaB, I just had to read your post. One year ago you were giving me advise on my older rct. Now I get to hear about the new rcts and remember where I was one year ago.

So to all you new to this whole thing... It will pass. It will get better. You will survive. And so will your rct. Pray a lot and keep asking questions. You will so love the advice from Jessica. Now I'll go shed a tear or two for all of you!
