Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of October (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have October ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in October, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

If your future Sailor has yet to ship, be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (some of you have changes that you need to make) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

Welcome to the "family" ruleymom

Its Day 5 that Cody has been gone....day 2 I didn't wake up wanting to cry instantly! So there IS hope!! :o)
But, your words were a reality check for me! (which my husband pointed out) ....My son hasn't "lived" with us for almost 2 years, he'll be 21 this year, he had just moved back in Sept to get ready to leave.

After reading all the moms' notes these past few days, I realize, I'm actually glad he hasn't been here full time for so long....though I was just getting used to him and now he's not here, the biggest problem I have is not being able to talk to him everyday! I probably only saw him 2-3 times a week....Thanks all for the new perspective. I needed the "wake up" to get past the empty feeling....of course both kids gone at once was NOT something I was ready for!! ;o(

My oldest son left Houston on Tuesday, Oct. 1. I have to say this is harder than I thought it would be. Still crying at random times, almost feel like I'm grieving. I homeschool my kids so this boy was in my presence 24/7 most of his almost 19 years. I still have all my others to keep me busy, but what I wouldn't give for one more hug from my big boy! Hope time goes quickly. Pretty sure I can't make it to his PIR, but hoping maybe his girlfriend and a sibling or 2 can make the trip. Pensacola will be lots closer, so praying for an opportunity to visit once he gets there. So proud of my boy! He's doing what he wants to do and I know he'll succeed!

Today will be my boys 1st wake up there technically iguess he not sleep first night. Mornings are Bad for me i guess not hearing his alarm. And him walking down the hall to leave. I dunno. Then I had thought if no sledding and building Huge snow ramps with my 11 year old daughter this winter. Ugghh. And there it went. I thought I was going better. But... Only when people are around I can talk to. I do good ... But I think I drive them crazy with nothing else to talk about but my boy!!!

Bethin NY -  Good luck! :o) I do one hour at a time! :o)
If this is something your son was looking forward to doing then he will be fine! The lack of contact is rough, but at least you know he's in a safe place! I am so excited to see the "boy" (in my mind) I left at MEPS, walk out as a man on his graduation!! I use that thought to help me smile through! :o)
