Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of October (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have October ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in October, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

I just wonder what they're doing. Drives me insane that I can't talk to him. Can't wait to see the Graduation information,Hunter's mom. That will be a great day!

Bellamom2, I'm so glad u got the call! I know the calling card I sent with my son still shows the caller id of the phone being called from, so he could have used it. I talked to a man yesterday, who's son graduated lasted Friday. He gave me some really good information and is going to email me some things about graduation. I'll pass those along to all of you. He said his son told him that the first 2 weeks were horrible with all of the screaming etc., but after that it got much better. I'm really upset because he told me they would definitely pull his wisdom teeth and there is no break in training! I wish I would have known that and I would have had them pulled here! So for all of you moms whose son's haven't left yet, you may want to get that done.

my son left on 10/2/2012.  did not sleep well that night. seemed like i was up every two hours worrying about him.  i did okay wednesday at work for i was busy. however, once i got home, it hit me hard again. i was making dinner.  i realized as i was taking the plates out , i would have to take one out for him for he would not be there to eat.  the tears started flowing and it was a hard pill to swallow.   this is going to be a big adjustment for me. i can hardly wait for his graduation from basic training to see him.   trying to keep busy and stay strong.

HE CALLED! 48 hours later but I got the call!!! It did sound scripted, lasting a whole 15 seconds maybe, but it was because it wasn't the other night..he's fine :) Well, didn't sound like he was at the Hilton, but i'm sure it will get better. The caller ID said US Gov't. Wonder why he didn't use the calling card ? Hmmm..

Sixftbind - He has signed on as an AZ - Aviation Maintenance Administration.  And now the official date is the 23rd - went to the recruiting office and updated his contract with the new date today.  Nervous anticipation is not fun, but he is ready & so I must be ready too (ready or not, here it comes!)  Looking forward to meeting all of you at PIR!!  Go Navy!!

That is so nice...and ironic!

Anybody who left 10/2/12 doing aviation ordnance?

Comment by SpecialK on October 3, 2012 at 6:05pm

Hey run2befree.  Yep.  Apparently my son and your son train together.  Small world!

Comment by run2befree on October 3, 2012 at 3:15pm

Hey KelleyM - are you by any chance from Georgia?  My son is a diver candidate and has a friend in EOD that just got moved back from the 29th to the 23rd?  That is too much of a coincidence if that's the case.....

Comment by B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet) on October 3, 2012 at 1:10pm

Hey KelleyM, MamaKrayKray and run2befree - my son also leaves on the 23rd from San Diego.  I actually started a discussion group above for "son leaving on the 23rd" (look under View All).  All of our kids should be there at the same time - hopefully we can meet at PIR!

First day of P-week. I'm afraid he's going to lose his wallet. Lots of stuff in it. I hope he's doing ok. I hope they all do ok.
